7 pin flat seems to be on almost everything around here except for the semi. It
is round. But the wiring pinout of the connectors are diffferent.

The 7 pin round connector with flat pins seems to be what's most common these
days. I think pretty much any new truck comes with that

There are 3 different flavors of the 7-pin connector. Most
trailers use what is sometimes referred to as 7-pin common.
The flat 4-pin will not accommodate a trailer brake controller.
You need at least a 5-pin to do the trailer brakes.
