Oh. I think I've seen that somewhere. I think they say that it's supposed to provide lower friction for blowing. I never tried it as I though things would get caught on the ridges. I guess it might actually be stronger in direct burial if they didn't thin the wall

There will be a pattern. I would normally expect them to be in the brochure or spec sheet for the antenna. But parabolic dishes all have a very similar set of sidelobes. First set of sidelobes are down 20 dB or so from the main. And are a couuple of degrees away from the main boresight lobe.
