There is HDPE versions that are designed for direct burial.

That orange stuff? I would not think it is outdoor rated, nor would it hold up 
if buried.

  You talking about conduit or culvert?

  We replaced all of our old corrugated (galvanized)  culvert(s) with the 
plastic stuff that's corrugated on the outside and smooth wall on the inside. 
Way better stuff because it doesn't trap stuff.
