API we run, the client must mark the files inactive before they are expired
on the server. After the files are inactive, they are submit to the

No, only marks files inactive. The expire has to compare the status to the
copygroup retention criteria to know what can be purged from the database.
You can manually delete records, but running an expire is easier. Certain

On HP I would tune the maxdsize to allow the ADSM process to obtain more
memory. Run the process and what how much memory it uses. Also, count the
files per directory on the client and see if any directory has a huge

Sometimes. I have seen ADSM interupt processing for a restore that needs
that tape. I have also seen on the 4.1 code ADSM give the message of data
unavailable when tape drives are not immediately available on the server (3
seconds). If anyone has changes to resolve. Please let us know.

If nothing is running (q ses, q pro) and the log is not clearing, the only
way I have been able to clear it is to bounce the ADSM instance.
Alternatively, kill -11 will create a core dump for them to analyze.

I am running a 3.1.2.41 ADSM server on AIX 4.3.2. After trying to
label a library volume with a "label libvol " command, the command hung.
Now " q pro", "q libr", and other commands hang. Is there a solution other
that bouncing the ADSM instance? (th
