Hello,
Have Neo4000 and my experience was, that HP LTO3 were not supported below
5.3.x (at the time only 5.2.6.x were available, so maybe in 5.2.7 it
works)
Adding additional module - I had to delete and re-define library again in
TSM (takes < 10 minutes - recommend to write a TSM script for it)

Hi,
I have seen this - you need to add/compile the locales to the linux host
- you need to set your language to en-US but the locale file for the
given language must exist in the system.
As far as I remember, locale-gen is what you need in Ubuntu ...

Hello,
trying to configure TSM for VE with MS Exchange 2010 inside the VM.
Added
INCLUDE.VMTSMVSS
to the dsm.opt but got
04/29/2014 17:38:14 ANS9415E Failed to copy 'C:\Program
Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient\\vmtsmvss\BackupMon.exe' to
'C:\Users\datron\AppData\Local\Temp\TSM\BackupMon.exe' with VMwa
elow.
I suggest opening a PMR. IBM Support can get a trace with
the VMTSMVSS traceflag to find out what is happening.
Thank you,
Del

Hi,
this is from 5.3.2 Readme
See the following sections for information on installing Tivoli Storage
Manager in a Linux environment. The following features are not
supported:
* Generic tape
* Raw logical volumes
IMHO nothing new in 5.4.x

Hi,
you can use newer clients with your server
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21053218
I recommend upgrading your server - 5.5.0 is too buggy

Hi,
this library was created automaticaly when you defined the FILE device class as
SHARED=YES. It is used when doing LANFree to disk (SANErgy etc.)
Can you share corresponding actlog part with the error?

Hi,
on *NIX you have an option to use VIRTUALMOUNTPOINT for this. There is no such
thing in Windows. So if you cannot go through the door, try the window :)
Share the folder you want to backup and use the share as a DOMAIN parameter.
Example:
machine name: WinPC
folder: e:\whatever\myfolder
share
Hi,
yes - seems like Binary Coded Decimal problem - not only IBM libraries are
affected.

Hi,
this can work (I admit I haven't tried it with TS1130) - ESX4.0 supports FC
tape drives (new feature - was not working with 3.5) and you can dedicate whole
FC HBA to the virtual machine.
But even if it works it remains unsupported.

Hi,
I am almost sure there is tdpoerror.log in your /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin
and this must be set to be writeable by oracle user (I suggest chmod 666
/opt/tivoli/tsm/client/api/bin/tdpoerror.log)

Hi,
I do not think this is task for any "normal" backup solution (not to mention
PanFS is possibly not supported by any). With these specification you may
easily exceed any limit of filename/path length backup software has. Scanning
the filesystem can take hours (if only!) even before single by

Hello,
1) using VCB you take off the load from the ESX server (VCB proxy sends the
data to TSM, ESX just creates the snapshot)
2) Using TMBR in each VM - question is why to do that. In virtualized
environments you do not need to think about dissimilar HW so TSM based image
backups can help you
Hi,
just a guess - are the log files writable? correct permissions?
