Hi Jim,
With the BMR tool from IBM/TSM you can do a migration from Physical to Virtual
(P2V), Virtual to Physical (V2P) or Physical to Physical (P2P).
And you can pay for one time use if you don't want to keep the product.
There are some VMware documents I wrote together with VMware/IBM and Cristi
I have a Windows 2003 File Server Situated 300km's away that requires

We were using a "Tacit" (sic) server to replicate between that site and
our data centre and in turn backed up the data centre version using TSM.
"Tacit" is not up to scratch, a

Had a similar problem last year. It was fixed in version 5.1.7.2.
I would recommend an upgrade to 5.1.9, as this also fixes a security
exposure.
Good luck.

- You don't account for the case where NUM_BACKUP_INCR is 0.
- I would also change the test for NUM_BACKUP_INCR=20 to
NUM_BACKUP_INCR>=20. This is because if incremental BACKUP DB operations
are run between executions of the script, NUM_BACKUP_INCR could be greater

Apparently, in talking with my VMware guy yesterday evening, VMware will also
import a "Drive Snapshot" image directly. (the Tom Ehlert Software plug-in

If that works, we'll put in some über-blades in the DR Datacenter chas
Hello All,
I have a couple of questions...
1) This weekend TSM 5.3.2 on our AIX server became 'unstable', in
that it would accept a userid but then just 'hang' and not give a
prompt for a password. Some short time later, we were not even able to
telnet into the AIX box that the TSM s

Kerry,
I would start by examining the error report of the AIX box. Most likely the

The Admin Guide manual shows how to share a 3494 both dynamically and

Gang,
Thanks for all the input.
The errors we were getting tended to be all over the map, at times
making us think we didn't have the scratch/private stuff setup
correctly. Turned out to be, though, the device driver for the 3592.
The most recent driver available at the ftp site fixed the prob

We have had AIX system loose tcp services. A long time ago it used to be

Almost sounds like the client upgrade to 5.3.4 didn't work. I've had problems
in the past where an "upgrade" over existing client
code doesn't replace all the files. I usually like to uninstall and then
install the new version. I saw this a lot when going from
the 4.x clients up to the 5.1 code.
