Hi there,
We're trying to get an overview of all the archives we've already taken,
sorted on their annotation.
When we try the select description from archives statement, we get one
line per file within the archive...
Since we've got archives with about 30.000 files, our server falls on

Adding a second one.
TSM is good at using 2 CPU´s, so, very roughly speaking,
you will have 2x2.8=5,6 comparing to 3.2.

This field indicates how the ARCHIVES table is indexed.

Have you explored other communication options besides the traditional telco

those modes are available to you, you can tunnel over a VPN to your other
site. That would be cheaper and faster than a T1.

Try running this one (I can't remember if this is long running or not and I
don't have TSM DB available to me right now):

How would I determine what the per-process thread limit is? Your
suggestion of a thread limitation seems to fit the known facts.

This is actually APAR IC47950. I just looked and it's still listed as open. The
tape is deleted in the library client (STGDELETE)
and the volhistory entry in the library manager is removed, ownership changes
to the library manager, but it doesn't get put back as

Do your scripts verify that the volumes are truly scratch?
Yesterday's big discovery was a number of volumes were still
active on a server. I haven't yet seen in the ActLog where
they switch owners. More headscratching for next week.

I just have it as a script:

I do not understand the hard to manage argument, I use scripts to do all
of that sort of work. It is nice to be able to fine tune the disk pool
sizes. We have started resizing the pool volumes to reduce the threads
TSM uses, but it will take more than a week to complete. It will take 2
