Hi,
I am currently evaluating a TSM KM by OTL software with Patrol client and
console (you can get an evaluation copy). And I do think this is worth
investing.

Hi,
normaly you schedule a backup with multiple paralllel running processes.
But for the restore often these processes run sequential, because the
backups are colloacted on a few tapes. The processes can not read parallel
from tape. So try to desperse your backups on more tapes. (To investigate

Hi Denis
Your scenario should work.
You should indeed do a format db. The database and recovery log should be
formatted before TSM can fill them by using the restore db command.
You will however have to do a upgrade db. This is only done automatically if
you perform an in-place upgrade from ADSM t

Hi Salam,
make sure you set the capacity of the drive(s) to 'drive', if your going to be using
the green (5gb) and red (7gb) tapes.
Modify the '3570' device class and set format to 'drive' not '3570B' nor '3570C'.
Note that the drives are not replaced, it is just a chip and firmware that get

We have 3575-L32 with 6 C-XL drives and use both Blue and Red tapes w/o problems.
I would suggest after upgrading the drives that you do a reboot of AIX machine so it
gets new info. Just a good general rule.

Seems it is 3 days. But to find out what it is on your system do: q status

George,
I'm not really sure what the difference is, I'm guessing that the SSA

Boy! When they say there's more than one way to skin a cat its true .
One more:
if you sometimes accidently checkin scratches as Private
you can find them, along with any truly Private tapes check'd in but not
mounted nor used even once with :
select volume_name,status from libvolumes
Or to put it another way:
1) did they tell you the tape capacity is 80G after compression or
when NATIVE??
2) if you compress at the client (and almost everyone does?!?!!) then you
will only see NATIVE capacities reported.
I've seen this for DLT IV's (35G) in the past and presently I see
