licensing TSM clients, it's my understanding that what is important is the
number and platform type of each node that is 'in use'. 'Q License' tells
you how many licenses you 'licensed

The way I understand the licenses, you need either a Managed System for LAN
OR a Managed System for SAN license for each *Managed System* that you are
backing up (the SAN license permits you to backup files across the LAN).

Problem with unsuccesfull registering of licenses was caused by incorrect
setting of system date of my RS/6000. Date was set to 19.4.2000 instead of
2001. In license file is intem

LicenseEndDate=12/31/2037
so that I was out of date range of license validity
The licenses are on the clients in 3.7. You turn on support, but keep track
of licenses via the paper you got with the license file on the CD.
In 4.1, you actually license the number of Agents on the server side.
