Hi TIM,
Informix Database backup via TSM is using "onbar". IMHO "ontape" is used
for backup not managed by TSM. Using "onbar" you won't need to dump the
Informix Database to file but TSM backup the database online / "on the
fly". And using TSM u can manage it where you like to backup: disk or tape
Richard,
Thanks. It turns out that while the frantic e-mail about no documentation on
the IBM site was being produced, followed by an even more frantic phone call,
the appropriate Technote was in front of her. It would be nice if such things
were incorporated into the regular documentation.

I have a couple of questions about this "feature" as I'd like to take
advantage of it.
1. Is anyone on the list here actually using it?
2. Is there a way just to copy a node's data (not all the nodes in a
domain or storage pool) to the active pool?

Hi,
As for me, producer sessions are the ones collecting the data and
sessions are the ones moving data. So with this table and a resource of
4 I expect to see a maximum number of 3 sessions tranfering data to my
TSM server and one which gets the file list and inspecting the client.

Wanda,
My point exactly. When I set RESOURCEUTILIZATION 10, I got
between 4 and 8 tape mounts, but I only expected to get 4. I could
never tell why. So I lowered it to RESOURCEUTILIZATION 4, and now only
get 2 tape mounts. But according to the table below, I should only get

Has anyone used the API's to configure Informix database

I have a system with an Informix database that is currently

With the older drivers, you must be absolutely specific on the kernel
level, down to the sub-sub-sub level.
For that kernel level, look in the lin_taped archives at:
for x64 (you did not specify)

There is no license charge for a TSM server, you can stand up as many
servers as you want.
What is licensed is the number of processors in servers or workstations you
are backing up.
However, you must include the processors in the TSM server(s) in the count.
So as long as you are licensed for enou
Hi Alex,
This is a normal situation when other TSM Customers upgrade to a new hardware.
Don't know what IBM say about it but multiple customers do the samething you do
over and over again without buying extra temp lic.
I recommend that you talk to your IBM TSM SE Rep and he can help you out.

I have a questions about TSM licensing:
We run TSM 5.3.4 on Windows 2000 Server, with an LTO2 and LTO3 library,
attached via SCSI. It works fine.
We are upgrading the entire system: new PC running Windows 2003 Server,
TSM 5.5.1 and a new LTO4 library.
Can I setup and install the new LTO4 librar
You've got to do the local storage yourself, and have that ready to
receive the filedata. The only things that can be brought over by the
exports are things that are platform-independent. Having the system
guess what libraries, volumes, paths, drives, filesystems, disks,
whatever it's supposed to
I just did an export node on TSM 5.5.1, and the cloptset came over with the
client. You can see it get defined on the target server. Don't know when
that feature was added, but it's cool!
