Hi,
My company has switched from eudora to outlook. TSM is getting bombed by
huge .pst files.
Many of them are over 2G so subfile doesn't work them. Most of the users
are still on less than a 5.3 client
so a lot of backups are missed (350 yesterday). Which is good and bad, good
because I don't
Hi, new to this, and wanted to gain some insight and short-cuts to getting
started with RMAN and TDPO. Anyone out there have some free time to share
hints?
Thanks

Phil,
If your SAN is running based on IBM, DS4000 series, you may take a look at
DS4100 SATA solution. I found that it has competitive price and perf is quite
acceptable for tier 2 disk storage for Netware OS. Depending on what type of
HSM solution for Netware, you may need to spend more time
Richard,
How do you restart the scheduler process on a Window 2000 machine. Also,
if I decide to use CAD, how do I implement it?
Thanks,

Hi Gerhard,
Check the privileges of the user (admin) ID you used. In the client
manual, Chapter 3 "Getting started", section "Tivoli Storage Manager
client authentication" describes the requirements.

Phil,
If you guys WANTED to stick with IBM, they have SATA available on
certain FastT models (or DS whatever they've changed the name to
this month).
I've not got experience with the other two. Sorry I couldn't help out there.

You haven't mentioned tailoring your SCHEDLOGname client option to

Do 'dsmc q opt' to check its value relative to what you want.

But TSM still writes dsmerro.log on the remote disk and write dsmsched.log
on local disk

Hi Guys - I know this is a little off the TSM subject, so please accept my
apologies for wasting anyone's' time.
We are about to install a HSM system to manage our 1.4TB Netware File
Systems\Servers and I'm a HSM novice.
We are intending to use a 10 x 400Gb SATA second tier storage solution and

Ruud,
check your message file (if it si not corrupted or some other problem on
filesystem level) and if everything is OK, check your LANG environment
variable. It should contain the same value as teh name of subdirectory
in TSM API directory which contain messages file.
Hope this helps

Hello,
I have a Linux system (Suse 9.3) with TSM client 5.3.012. The server is

Running the client with dsmc command is ok. Using dsmj I get a problem.
After entering the password I get ANS1370E, tgelling me that my userid
doesn't have the right authorization. Java runtime is 1.4.2.
