Niklas,
It is looking at the Information Store service.
Sometimes this occurs when you are running under
a Windows userid that does not have Administrator
authority to view the registry. For example, this may
occur when you are running from a scheduler service

You can, but you can't move files out of one copypool into another. This is
documented.

Hi there,
I have TSM 4.2 running on AIX 4.3.3 and I do a backup for ORACLE 8.1.7 in the same TSM
server using RMAN & TSM everyday.
Sometimes the rman backup failed. Every time the backup failed, a tape drive error
will be generated in the error log in the operating system.
Could anyone tell me wh
Hi list,
Using a TSM server v 5.1.6.2 on AIX 4.3.3, I'm sometimes getting following entry in

I found that you can't do a move nodedata against a copypool. You have to
move the data from the onsite pool to another onsite pool and copy this to a
different copypool. The data in the old copypool is then inconveniently left
around (although existing copy group expiration value will apply).

I don't know enough about your configuration for too much comment but in our
scenario which is a 3584, using the Atape driver on AIX I would query libv
within TSM to see what logical labels TSM thinks are in which slots and then
compare this against a listing from tapeutil -f /dev/smc0 inventory, w
Hello
When I use the GUI I can backup my Exchange storage groups without problem,
but when I run the CLI, tdpexcc.exe, I get "ACN5304E, Unable to open service

Have anyone seen this??? Which service does it want to open???

hi all,
A while back =b4someone=b4 checked in a bunch of sctarch
tapes and labeled them wrongly.
I dont know which tapes they are. We had a relocation of the
tsm server and now we wish to restore but the new server
doesnt recognize the wrongly labeled tapes and keeps asking

I've increased COMMTIMEOUT up to 5 hrs.
Restore went OK.

I always thought TSM is not so much CPU intensive. The main CPU
consumption is to drive I/O. In the past in IBM manuals there was info how
much load each adapter can put on the processor. Even if I have not seen
such info recently, does not automatically mean it does not exist. CPUs

I had the same problem as Dave described at a customers site, as soon as we
got the Qlogic card from Qlogic everything worked fine.
And just a tip for you since you plan on running your TSM Server on Solaris,
you should considder not using filesystem for TSM Database nor TSM Diskpools
since the na
We're running about 2/3 as much workload as you on about 1/2 the
hardware (50gb database, 25tb storage on a H80, 2 400mhz cpus, 2GB
memory, 0.5tb disk - actually similar to your old config) and it is
doing fine. I think you will have more than enough server processing
resources for your workload.
Jorge,
There are some important things that you have to know about configuring a
SAN with tape libraries. The first thing is that you have use dedicated HBAs
for the tape drives, because the tape drives use FC-AL protocol while disks
use point-to-point.
The second thing is in the panel of the 358
