All the database,Backupsets, etc volumes are recorded in volume history file,
delete unwanted backup volumes from volume history refer command "delete
volhistory", After deleting from volume history you can ones again reuse

Don't be shy about searching the ADSM-L archives, as topics like this one have been

This could possibly be a problem that's related to the TSM APIs if no LANG

Tony,
If you run deleted volshitory ( "Del volhistory t=dbbackup
todate=today-1,,,") , then you do not require to re-init or delete any
of the DB tapes physically, The tape labels can be re-used if they are
older than the date that you specified in todate option.
Otherwise, system will
DELETE VOLHISTORY TODATE=MM/DD/ TOTIME="HH:MM:SS " TYPE=DBBACKUP
should do it, just fill in the date and time qualifiers that fit your need...

What is the situation with these tapes, e.g. - onsite, offsite, in an ATL, what type
of pool are they in, etc. Also, if you do a move data on one of these tapes, if it
does complete successfully, does it move it to a scratch volume or a volume already
allocated for the node that the data belong

Hi list,
Where can I find some documented examples of TSM policies for backup and archive
operations ?
I have to create a policy that does not create the situation where you have a tape
with only 5% of real data stored and 95% marked for reclamation.
Thanks.

On my Windows test box I have Easy CD Creator 5 with a built in

I have not tried putting a backupset on a CD but I

Do we have to generate files which a CD can hold.
Is there a CD Burning Software available which can write to multiple CD's

Hi list,
I have to check the consistencies between a TSM database and the volume tapes used to
backup and archive files. The library is an IBM 3590 with two drives and it is not
automated, I mean, there is an operator that feeds it with the tapes TSM asks for.
The TSM Server is 5.1 and is runni
Hi list,
I am under the impression that a "dsmserv auditdb fix=yes logmode=normal detail=yes"
will not only fix inconsistencies in the TSM database but will also ask for volumes to
compare information from the physical tapes with the database. Is this correct ?
The environment is TSM Server 5.1

Hi,
I'm not familiar with DB/2 but I think the main difference
between online backup of DB/2 and online backup of SAP R/3
using TDP is that TDP backs up *ALL* data you would need to
restore SAP R/3 in one go. This backup includes database, archive logs
and some flat files.

Hello,
we are actually testing TDP for SAP (the oracle flavour). We do this to
implement the backup process into the standard SAP environment.

Hey gang,
I'm thinking about using the TSM web client for a customer of mine. I

databases which we back up with two different server instances an
Just being able to use the extended SAPDBA utilities that TDP provides the

There are no errors in the acticity log. Once the reclamation process is
started the tapes are selected/listed in the activity log but not reclaimed. It
appears to recognize the tape is available for reclamation but does not even
