My recommendation would be to setup the NT server and start sending all the
backups there. Pick a number of days after the cutover to just discard the
AIX machine and all the data. Dumb Management usually likes dumb answers
like this. Zlatko, I like DaMagement, guess that is the short form of D
Zlatko, I am so tired of hearing about this. You "hit the nail on the head"
as we say in the USA. Let me see if I can put some sense of reality into
this once and for all. In the mainframe days we designed applications to
have cycles of processing where you could roll all the data up and recove
Well, NetBackup and Backup Exec can unload the mailbox (Inbox), but not the
calendars or any of the other stuff that is important that is in the
mailbox. You will not like the performance and your high-end users will
complain the restore is useless without the calendar.
PSTs are not mailboxes, t
Export/import is the supported way.
Restore will not work but if you succeed many people on this list would be
interested to know.
Third way is to setup the NT server from scratch and delete all the data
from AIX one. Maybe that exactly the damagement wants.

At the end of the day, sometimes it's easier to go to the same type of tape
volume.
For example, if you have a DR situation, you will need to source another
library/tape drive
if your DB exists on another form of tape volume. This is a very poor
approach when time
is of the essence in the recover

Yes, by setting weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly schedules and
corresponding management classes and copygroups.
But first try not the drive the Ferrari you have as a pram. Periodical
backups are *limitations* of a product not features. Ask your people what
they want to restore not how to achieve it
The first performance tuning step should be separation of files to
relatively small and big. Direct the small ones to disk or non-shared
filepool (thus over LAN) and big files direct to tape (which can be shared
and thus lan-free). You will get the benefits of both methods. Have in
mind KEEPMP set
look at the output of 'lsattr -El rmt3' on both servers and compare
output. This may reveal the reason.

Kelly,
you have at least two options in front:
- upgrade TSM server and keep using old clients on old NetWare boxes. Yes,
this is unsupported but does not automatically mean it would not work.
- move those Netware boxes to a small separate TSM server at v4.1.x.

Does anyone have any experience with including the backup of PST files along with the
TDP for Exchange backup to help counter the individual mail box restores that
NetBackup/BackupExec does? Any examples of the implementation, pros - cons etc..
