Hello,
Has anyone ever mapped a Storage Agent running TDP for Exchange from a
Win2k client to an LTO tape device on a Sun Solaris (5.7) TSM server?
Here's the setup:
Server: SAN:Client:
Sun E420SAN Data GatewayWin2K
TSM 4.2.1.
We are getting an LTO soon, but in general it's preferable to use
the AUTO CLEAN feature of the Library itself and not use TSM
for this purpose. (It's setup through the Operator Panel). In fact with
some SCSI libraries you can't use TSM's auto clean.

As far as I know, the maximum value is only limited by your available
virtual memory or communication resources. By limiting the number of
clients, your server performance can be improved, but the availability of
ADSM services to the clients is reduced.
Also, as soon as you can, it would b
Yes, use the PRESCHEDULECMD and POSTSCHEDULECMD options pointing to cmd
files.
Eg.
PRESCHEDULECMD:
net stop schedule > preschd.out
POSTSCHEDULECMD:
net start schedule > postschd.out
Routing the output of the stop/start to text files is for troubleshooting.

Yes and yes. You can run a batch file to perform the commands you need to
run or you can have the preschedulecmd run one for you. If you use the
command file you need to be aware that when the command file completes, the
backup will start. That means that everything that needs to happen should

Can you elaborate? What do you via a work station? Install NetWare 6 just on a PC and

I am using TSM 4.2.1.15 to backup a Win2k member server. TSM is reporting
backup failures on the following four files:

Yes. That is done with the dsmcutil utility, which is installed in the
..\tsm\baclient subdirectory.
(Formally called "TSM Windows NT Scheduler Service Configuration Utility
Command Line Interface".
Look in the client README under the topic "Central Scheduler", that is where
it is documented.
Is anyone backing up NetWare 6? I have a situation where I have to make this work.

John, I do something close to this with exports. I run exports to
a special sms defined pool of volumes; HSM migrates this pool every hour.
I can run any number of exports to devt=file without running out
of space. Imports work fine once I recall the files.
I rename each file so that a del volh

Bill,
Yes I have an sms pool defined as well, takes care of all the allocation.
Maybe I will just kick off interval migration to clear the pool.
Thanks

Yes of course, you can take the dsmcutil commant for this:
Example:
rem dsmcutil install /name:"TSM Central Scheduler Service" /machine:PDC
/clientdir:c:\adsm /optfile:c:\tsm\dsm.opt /node:PDC /autostart:yes
/password:nodepassword /commmethod:tcpip /commserver:alpha1.sanjose.com

I take it by the fact that you are in Germany, that maybe the W2k machine
was installed for German language.
Even though you installed TSM using english, I believe TSM will pick up the
regional language setting of W2k for some things.
