I've also had this happen with earlier versions of
code and had to wind up rebooting the machine. The
answer from support was that the process was hung in
memory and the only fix was to reboot. It did solve
it as well.

alt_disk_installs and mksysb's to disk.
Define a file devclass, then backup db type=full devc=fileclass
vol=/mydir/filename. Then, on your test box, mount mydir and copy your
devconfig (or simply ftp it if you have disk space)

I have never used cron to schedule a TDPO backup. But if you look at the
user manual where it talks about scheduling backups using TSM scheduler,
you will see some example scripts. You can basically invoke these scripts
through cron.

however I needed to EDIT the ie, dsm.opt, and dsm.sys for the client_only

command). You could try 'kill -9' on it. But make sure it's not

1. do your backups
2. shut down the server
3. use smit to install the new version
