Depends on the library. You can't define a single TSM library across
multiple physical libraries.
As long as you can put more than two drives in the library, you can
configure those into TSM.

take them out. Pain in the arse!

environments, and are planning a migration to Windows 2000 and Active
Directory. We understand that TSM has a Data Protection Module for MS
Exchange. My questions are:

That is the paramount step to take.
You could also desensitize the operating system to the drive
maintenance work, as in doing an AIX 'rmdev -l rmt_', though
it's usually not necessary.

is sp nodes (both tsm server and udb clients) with 3590 B drives, tsm 4.1.2.0
on aix
4.3.3, udb eee 7.1.
18 megs/sec/drive is what we see for udb data backups ...using using 4 drives

we had also a serious problem with backup of DB2 databases because the
declared size by UDB was rather random ! The UDB utility had to be patched,
available by IBM.

We did a fresh backup of one our clients filespaces(client was previously backed up)
which contains multiple filespaces. We renamed the filespace that we were going to do
a fresh backup on. Backup was sucessful. The total number of objects deleted was

that you have, in that there may be variations, and one may be able
to read the bad tape better than another drive.

One trick I've done for a bad tape is to alternate "audit vol VOLSER
fix=no" and "move data VOLSER" commands. It seems each time a little more
infomation was picked up. I never got everything from a tape, but you may
get lucky and get the data that you need. I went through about 4 rounds

Hi Paul,
check your Exchange manual for the command (like doing the backups) to
delete older Exchange backups. If Im right there is a parameter
"/ifolder:" in the exchange command-line to do this.. just add a
schedule with the command-schedule to accomplish this..
