I am upgrading the hardware on my GroupWise 5.5.2 secondary domain this

A customer mentioned that in older versions of ADSM that the
retrieval of archived data did not retain file ownerships or file
permissions. He is curious to know if this has been included in
newer versions. Offhand I don t know. Anyone?

It doesn't work on the AIX TSM 3.7.2.0 client.
Doing 'dsmc show inclexcl' yields:
Excl All /tmp/.../*
despite there being no /tmp Exclude spec
I am sure this has been covered before, but I can't seem to find it in the

We want to save just the directory tree of a file system to a different

My question is how can I do this? We do not want the files in the same area.
The idea is to save tape mounts on a system recovery

We use DOMAIN all-local /tmp and it works.

Is this a problem only with newer versions?
If yes is this considered to be bug or a feature?
Kind regards
Try: dsmc incremental -subdir=yes /tmp/sumpin/
That works w/ AIX 4.3.2 & ADSM client v3.1.0.7!
Is the TSM client v4.1.x "Broken, As Designed"?

We only needed this done on one client. It is 3.7.0.0 client on AIX 4.3.3. I recall
it didn't work one way and when I tried the other way it did. Maybe version problem

The product should allow the customer to do this if the customer wants
to, though the developers will not allow us to do it

Yes, that's the way to do it. I would also define another non-collocated
tape storage pool and point the original pool at that one and set the
migration threshold to 98%. That way, if your first pool gets close to
filling, TSM will consume a scratch tape in the new pool and keep on going

I hope they are trying to really fix it, I could use some better performance!

Then you may have to export the node and then import back in. There may be

The most common reason for this message I have found has nothing to do with scheduling

It, in my experience, means either the client is down, *SM scheduler is not running on

Geoff,
No. It will not work. You need a "license" file to allow it to work.
The version on the web is a "PTF" package with no license.
You can install it, but it will look for the license file and if it
does not find it, will stop execution.
You will need to speak with your Tivoli representative

Where do you have that information from?
To the best of my knowledge, it is wrong. Rebinding DOES also affect
archive data.
