If you are REALLY REALLY POSITIVE that you can't read the tape and the stuff on it is toast: If this is a scratch tape, just check it out. If this is a storage pool volume: DELETE the volume and specify DISCARDDATA=YES. That will remove all the data base entries for the backup versions on the
