If you are REALLY REALLY POSITIVE that you can't read the tape and the stuff
on it is toast:
If this is a scratch tape, just check it out.
If this is a storage pool volume:
DELETE the volume and specify DISCARDDATA=YES.
That will remove all the data base entries for the backup versions on the
tape.
If the tape is a PRIMARY pool tape, the next time you run incremental
backups, TSM will make new backup copies of any files that are still on the
clients. Any "inactive" backup versions that were on the destroyed tape
will be lost.
If the tape is a COPY pool tape, TSM will re-copy stuff from the primary to
the COPY pool the next time you run BACKUP STGPOOL.
