[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 868757] Re: random mouse pointer freezes

2011-10-11 Thread Ned Hedrick
At first, I thought the only recourse was to power off the machine and
restart. However, further testing has proven I am able to use CTL-ALT-
DEL to initiate logoff, then the mouse works fine when I log back in.

2011-11-09 Thread Ned Hedrick
This problem has not recurred for a while, however I cannot identify
exactly what corrected it. I would be satisfied with closure.

Hey jaymac,

Hi, thanks for reporting this issue during the development period of
Ubuntu.

I notice there's not been further comments to the bug report since the
release came out, would you mind updating us on the status of it in the
release?

Are you still able to reproduce the issue? If not, do you think the bug
report can be closed, or do you think we should continue tracking it?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 476798] Re: No Display

2010-02-05 Thread Ned Hedrick
Same problem here. HP CQ50-215NR laptop w/nvidia graphics. Works fine
until I install the nvidia driver, then no display. Only recourse I
know is to completely re-install the OS. Note that this problem exists
for me on Ubuntu 8.04.4, and Lucid alpha 2. Will try on 9.10 tonight...

Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 476798] Re: No Display

2010-02-06 Thread Ned Hedrick
Ubuntu 9.10 w/nvidia driver seems to work OK. So failure is occurring
for me on 8.04.4 and Lucid alpha 2.

Sequence of events is:
1. Fresh install of OS.
2. Use System > Administration > Update Manager to install all current updates.
3. Re-boot.
4. Use System > Administration > Hardware Drivers to install recommended Nvidia
graphics driver.
5. Re-boot.
6. After entering sign-on info, screen goes black and system won't respond to
anything.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 476798] Re: No Display

2010-02-06 Thread Ned Hedrick
Oops...correction to sequence of events above...

in step 6, sign-on screen never appears. System locks BEFORE sign-on
screen appears (at least on 8.04.4)

Sorry for the confusion...
