Same problem here. HP CQ50-215NR laptop w/nvidia graphics. Works fine until I install the nvidia driver, then no display. Only recourse I know is to completely re-install the OS. Note that this problem exists for me on Ubuntu 8.04.4, and Lucid alpha 2. Will try on 9.10 tonight...
