[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1824661] [NEW] Nvidia issues with 19.04 and XPS 15 9750 GTX 1050 Ti Mobile
Public bug reported: Hello. I am having issues consistently with this laptop and the Nvidia drivers in 19.04. I have tested this on Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, and Ubuntu MATE. This is with both the recommended 418 driver as well as 390. Today I tried installing the latest daily of Ubuntu MATE with the proprietary driver option on my Dell XPS 15 9570 with Nvidia GP107M (GeForce GRX 1050 Time Mobile). Boots to blank screen that flashes a couple times. Can't get to tty. Reboot, editing grub to include nomodeset. Boots to underscore character in the top left. I can get tty at least. 418 driver is installed. Looking at logs but nothing seems obvious. If there's anything I can do to help with this please let me know. Thanks! I am using the final release of Ubuntu 12.04, 32-bit version. I used Display to connect my second monitor. It correctly identified my second display as a Visio 22" M220VA. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1761834] Re: Right-click doesn't work
I just wanted to add two new notes to this bug report: 1. When I reported it, I was using a beta of 18.04, right-click didn't work either by clicking on the area of the trackpad that is supposed to be reserved for right-click or by using two-finger click. The former is still true in the full released version, but the later seems to be fixed, albeit, it is quite difficult and requires very precise timing and finger spacing to achieve a right-click (I get a successful right- click with two fingers about 20% of the time). 2. I have done a clean install on a different laptop with completely different hardware, and I am seeing exactly the same problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761834 Title: Right-click doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1761834/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5
Running 14.04.2 with original X stack and Utopic kernel. updated fglrx- updates, fglrx-amdcccle-updates to the versions in proposed and it didn’t work, giving several errors; first got an error due to this bug #1444336 simply selecting the packages for re-installation in synaptic allowed them to install properly, but I then encountered more errors after reboot; fglrxinfo in terminal gives: X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 12 Current serial number in output stream: 12 Trying to start Catalyst Control Center gives There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following. No AMD graphics driver is installed, or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for you AMD hardware, or configure using aticonfig. Running aticonfig gives Unable to open /etc/ati/control, please reinstall the driver. aticonfig: No supported adapters detected Finally, Boinc complains about No usable GPUs found. Completely removing, restarting and reinstalling fglrx-updates and related packages from proposed and running aticonfig --initial fixes all of these errors. Thus I think there may be problems for people when they try to update fglrx if this version hits the official repos. Unfortunately I found another problem with Boinc Boinc now thinks that the gpu doesnt support opencl, giving these errors; App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it Application uses missing ATI GPU Running clinfo seems to indicate that OpenCL is installed. Boinc recognized it as OpenCl fine with the previous driver version. Thus I think there is something wrong with the driver, specifically OpenCL recognition. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424491 Title: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/1424491/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1448865] [NEW] System doesn't boot with systemd, upstart mode is ok
Public bug reported: After successful upgrade from kubuntu 14.10 to 15.04, the system hangs during boot and never reaches the login screen. When grub menu entry "Ubuntu, with Linux 3.19.0-15-generic (upstart)" is selected, the system boots normally. It turns out that the /etc/fstab uuids for the / and swap partitions are not correct. Once corrected and set to the values from /dev/disk/by-uuid/, booting is possible using systemd. fstab had been edited manually in the past but there were no problems until the upgrade to 15.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1490684] Re: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup
Thanks for the response, and very clear instructions on how to upgrade the BIOS under Linux. It's much appreciated. I upgraded the BIOS: $ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 1402 08/09/2012 The problem of a duplicate cursor getting stuck on the previous screen is much less common now, but does still occur. Especially when moving the cursor from one screen to the other relatively quickly. I should probably clarify that, like the original bug, this didn't happen in Ubuntu 12.04. I upgraded that to Ubuntu 14.04 and the problem still wasn't there. Then I wiped the machine and installed Kubuntu 14.04 directly, and the problem manifested itself. Thanks for your continued help. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490684 Title: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1490684/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1490684] Re: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup
Nevermind, it's not really any more or less frequent after the BIOS upgrade. One further thing I've observed is that the cursor duplication IS more frequent if I have open windows near the edges of the screens where the transfer is taking place. If it's just the desktop, then the cursor gets stuck on occasion, but not as often. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1490684 Title: Mouse cursor duplicated in dual screen setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1490684/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 894071] Re: Mouse pointer doesn't move with two fingers pressed on bcm5974 touchpad
Trying to be clearer: Two-finger scrolling works fine, because it's not a button press, just a matter of lightly laying two fingers on the trackpad and moving them up and down. We're talking about a two-finger *click* here. When the trackpad is clicked with two fingers, the pointer stops moving as long as the button is down. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308787] [NEW] The orange frame that indicates a resized window isn't going away
Public bug reported: You know when you move a window towards the edge of the screen and Unity decides to maximize it, and highlights it with an orange frame and shadow to let you know that it's messing with you? This time the frame didn't go away when I pulled the window away from the edge. I know about "sticky edges" and that toggle has no effect on this behavior. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
I realize that the last comment was almost a year ago, but apparently this bug is still around. I have it with my Gateway LT31xx laptop, with the same graphics card as the bug title. I was able to find a solution to this problem. It requires a BIOS flash with a modified bios file that enables certain options (North Bridge, IIRC). The solution was based on this post --> http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...2#post11682072 . I went to the thread they referenced (http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer...ml#post6368072), and found the modified bios file for my laptop, a Gateway LT31xx. The modified bios file gives you an option to select only 'UMA' rather than 'UMA+Sideport'. I flashed this new bios file, after using the correct phlash.exe command (found in the first post of the notebookreview thread), and when I rebooted, there was the option. I changed that and everything looks great --- no tearing at all. I don't know if I have 3D compositing, but I do have xcompmgr running, so I think compositing works fine. I think this is the solution that everyone is looking for in regard to the screen tearing problem. If you have a different laptop, I would suggest searching the notebookreview thread to see if a modified bios file was created for your specific model. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 Title: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/556782/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
