[Bug 218126] Re: xen guest kernel bug: 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/build/custom-source-xen/drivers/xen/netfront/netfront.c:785'
Jiři nemas dovod takto skaredo penit a utri si penu z ust. :) Nasraty je kazdy. Aj ja, co som to reportoval, pozri vyssie. I understand now the policy of Canonical is against the best interests of community. The kernel freeze should not be applicable to such grevious bugs. I suspect the Canonical plays a dishonest game with the users. They intentionally don't fix some grevious bugs for server use so the companies have to buy the support from them. Shame on Canonical -- xen guest kernel bug: 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/build/custom-source-xen/drivers/xen/netfront/netfront.c:785' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can now confirm that your packages helped me to get the domU network working. It is interesting to know, that testing ubuntu domU with other DISTRO (SL5.1) as host OS can reveal the problem more precisely and fix the problem more quickly then testing with ubuntu. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => HIRANO Takahito (hiranotaka) Status: New => Fix Committed -- xen guest kernel bug: 'kernel BUG at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.24/debian/build/custom-source-xen/drivers/xen/netfront/netfront.c:785' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 222913] Re: misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com
I will not push further the issue , but you are missing my point and most likely you are not the proper person to answer. Point is: ubuntu product plus kde packages is de jure (legally) still ubuntu product (and hence gets LTS support.), but de facto it is kubuntu (and no ubuntu user has reason to start looking on kubuntu site.) The kubuntu product may be different, but they have the same KDE packages. Both products are supported by canonical, the first one is supported for LTS the other not for LTS just because of KDE. Is it clear now? I really don't understand why the same packages are supported by the same company for 3 years LTS if installed within the ubuntu, but only for 18 months if installed within the kubuntu. Am I missing something? Tell me where I am wrong, if you can't please reopen the bug. 2008/4/30 Matthew East <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > mkl - I've read your further comments carefully but still don't consider > this to be a valid bug. [Bug 222913] [NEW] misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 8.04 is tagged for Long Term Support (LTS) Kubuntu 8.04 is not . Since both share the same repository and ubuntu can be easily turn into kubuntu and other way around the customers may be confused. Please add star at the LTS (*) and explain the LTS does not apply to kde*.deb packages. The same way, explain the custumers may get LTS support in kubuntu for other packages except the kde*.deb What is the legal status of ubuntu. If a custumer buys the commercial support from Canonical for ubuntu 8.04 and removes gnome and installs KDE? Is the support going for 36 months or 18 months? Please be honest, don't lay, cheat and mislead your customers. They don't deserve it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222913 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222913] Re: misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com
Of course I disaggree. The answer is not satisfactory. Does Canonical support only the default installation or all packages in their repository the user can possibly install additionally? If not stated explicitly the kde related packages are supported the same way like other ubuntu packages. If I do this something like this in ubuntu: apt-get install -y kde kdm /etc/init.d/kdm start I have ubuntu + KDE, all from ubuntu repository. How long period is such installation supported by security patches and other bug fixes? 3 years or 18 months? ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid => New ** Changed in: ubuntu-website Status: Invalid => New -- misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222913 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 222913] Re: misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com
Trollord >From your answer I don't think you are trustworthy representative of ubuntu. You still avoided to say explicitly what I am asking for. 18 months of 36 months are supported the kde related packages in ubuntu. How long is your "for the whole time as well" If that is 36 month as other ubuntu packages and kubuntu and ubuntu uses the same repository even (if they have different website) then why kubuntu is not supported for 36 months. You cannot be serious about "installer kludges of Kubuntu for the LTS months..." If kubuntu has no LTS tag it is not because of installer (which is the same as for ubuntu), but it is because of the kde itself. The only difference between ubuntu and kubuntu is what graphic desktop system is installed by default after installation. kubuntu is ubuntu + kde. It is something like kde remix of ubuntu. I don't think you have enough information https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/kubuntu-devel/2007-December/002066.html I am talking about kde3.5.9, which you can install in ubuntu as well. I don't care about kde4 for now. This is the proper place to clarifiy that. I still think the LTS tag on ubuntu website is still misleading, providing the kde is not supported for LTS, which I am still in doubt it is. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Fix Released => New -- misleading LTS tag for ubuntu 8.04 on main site www.ubuntu.com https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222913 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
