*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 216104 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/216104 I still have the same issue as per my initial message, this time using Jaunty beta with the latest updates applied. Selecting Places -> Connect to Server... and only entering the service type (windows share) and server name / ip address, I get the following error message: 'Can't display location "smb://192.168.0.4/" No application is registered as handling this file' As before, if I enter the share name (i.e. it isn't optional) I then get the dialog box to enter username, domain and password and everything displays correctly (I think this is the fix described in bug #216104 - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/216104). [Bug 210153] Re: [ooo-build] [hardy] calc: sum show err:529
I've noticed a similar error when opening an excel file in OOo 2.4 (ubuntu). Excel seems to try and convert text to a value automatically when a mathematical formula is applied to a cell which contains a text value. In the attached sample excel file, the text value "1" in cell A2 is added to the numerical value 2 in cell A3 and the result displayed in cell A4. In excel the value in cell A4 is '3'. In OOo 2.3 the result is '2' since the text value in cell A2 is treated as zero. In OOo 2.4 (ubuntu) the result in cell A4 is 'Err:529'. If the Value() function is applied to the value in cell A2 the result is '3' as expected. The official (sun) builds of OOo 2.4 and OOo3devM7 both display '2' in cell A4. This error could be confusing for those switching from excel. I think it would be helpful if OOo was to attempt to automatically apply the value() function to text, although it is more strictly correct to display the error. I'll file an upstream bug on the main OOo site, if something similar hasn't already been reported. ** Attachment added: "TextAsNumbers.xls" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13833770/TextAsNumbers.xls -- [ooo-build] [hardy] calc: sum show err:529 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210153 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 209474] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] Speadsheet has problems in hardy
This bug only seems to occur in the ubuntu build of OpenOffice.org 2.4.0. I've installed the Sun build of 2.4.0 (downloaded from openoffice.org) in Hardy beta and the values are displayed correctly. The results are also correct using OO.o 2.4.0 in windows xp. I've installed the latest updates to hardy beta, which included updates to OO.o (ubuntu build), and the bug is still present. Might be worth trying another array formula to see if this has similar issues or if its just the frequency function. [Bug 209474] Re: [Upstream] [hardy] Speadsheet has problems in hardy
I've tried some other array formulas and there doesn't seem to be a problem with them. >From a quick look on openoffice.org (OOo), I think this bug is related to OOo issue 8946, http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=8946 which had some changes to the frequency function at the end of last year and in February 2008 to allow for the values in the classes range not being in ascending order. The following comment was made by er on 6th Feb 2008: "The results of FREQUENCY() were somewhat arbitrary because when shuffling the sort array prior to invoking QuickSort the index order didn't follow. Fixed in sc/source/core/tool/interpr3.cxx 1.20.30.8" Strangely though, the "FREQUENCY_test.ods" file attached to OOo issue 8946 appears to work (with results in the correct order) in the OOo 2.4-ubuntu build but the OOo 2.4-sun build gives incorrect results when the values in the classes are not in ascending order. -- [Upstream] [hardy] Speadsheet has problems in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209474 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I'm using a fresh install of hardy beta on a desktop pc with today's (28 Mar) updates applied. If I try to connect to a samba / windows share, on my link station, using Places -> Connect to Server... and only enter the service type (windows share) and server name / ip address, I get the following error message: 'Can't display location "smb://192.168.0.4/" No application is registered as handling this file' However, if I then go back to the connect to server dialog box and enter the same details, but also include the share name, it connects and I get the "Enter Password" dialog box. I then enter the username, domain and password and the shared folder opens up in nautilus as expected. After the restart there are some graphics glitches like in the attachment. + A workaround that i found is disable hardware acceleration but this doesn't fix the problem -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575387 Title: Graphics Glitch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1575387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 685159] [NEW] Storage expansion card prevents live USB from booting on Acer Aspire One
Public bug reported: When trying to boot Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 1 (and Ubuntu 10.10) from a live USB memory stick on an Acer Aspire One (110L with 8GB SDD and 8GB SD memory card in the storage expansion slot) I get the following error (11.04 Alpha 1): - No init found. Try passing init= bootarg. BusyBox v1.17.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.17.1-7ubuntu2) built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. (initramfs) The splash screen briefly appears then I get the above error. Previous versions of Ubuntu didn't give this error (jaunty, karmic and lucid). If I remove the SD card from the storage expansion slot and reboot from the USB stick, Ubuntu will then load up (I'm able to run 11.04 Alpha 1 from USB and installed 10.10 on my netbook this way). I found this work-around from comments #6 and #8 on the following unrelated bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/626164 Jake Rayson had the same issue with 10.10 and put it on his ZDNet blog (I posted on his blog regarding how to get around this issue). http://www.zdnet.co.uk/blogs/web-design-and-free-software-10004587 /ubuntu-linux-is-rubbish-10020772/ I haven't been able to get apport / ubuntu-bug to run under 11.04 Alpha 1 otherwise I would have reported the bug that way. I used startup disk creator from Lucid (version 0.2.22.1). Please let me know if any further information is required.
