[Bug 221038] Re: PulseAudio fails when Gstreamer is paused
After living with the problem for a while, I have come back with some more information. I have two computers, a Dell Dimension 8400 (which is what I've submitted the initial information above with) and a Dell Inspiron 600m. I've had the same problem on my Inspiron, but after I followed "Part A" of the instructions at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=789578, the problem never happened again. [Bug 245085] [NEW] rgmanager wrongly depends on NFS server
Public bug reported: Hi, On current Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, rgmanager depends on nfs-kernel-server and nfs-common. If you are not going to setup a clusterized NFS server, this is a useless dependency and it pulls in a lot of packages (like portmap and other rpc.* packages) which are insecure and must be manually disabled for security-sensitive deployments. It would be nice if these dependencies were removed or downgraded to Suggest: dependencies. I'm running ibex alpha 3 and the numlock works as I expect. The only problem I'm having with the keyboard now is the F keys. In order for me to open the run command I have to press ALT + fn + F2. Hi Mark, The following is from "man 5 modprobe.conf": Because the modprobe command can add or remove extra more than one mod‐ ule, due to module dependencies, we need a method of specifying what options are to be used with those modules. /etc/modprobe.conf (or, if that does not exist, all files under the /etc/modprobe.d directory) specifies those options, as required. Re: [Bug 362985] Re: MacBook Pro 3.1 Very Weak Wireless Performance Using Jaunty (Intrepid Works Fine)
Sorry, that could have been more clear. My first instinct was to build compat-wireless (from linuxwireless.org) in attempt to resolve the aforementioned problem. Unfortunately, compat-wireless itself did not help at all, so I uninstalled it and then installed lbm, which did indeed fix it. On Mon, Jun 1, 2009 at 2:28 PM, Luis R. [Bug 373364] [NEW] npviewer.bin devours CPU
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: flashplugin-installer After a brief period of light web surfing in Firefox, CPU often gets very hot; fans spin like mad. Micah, Thanks for information, but if the package you are talking about is firefox 3.0.10 then i've upgraded some hours ago. I might add that, i did install acrobat reader 9.1, and i think that was what was causing trouble among other things, but i removed it and things were fine. [Bug 363892] Re: No sound in Dell Inspiron 1420 in Jaunty
Sorry for all the updates, I'm figuring this out as I go along. After my previous update I noticed that the alsa-info.txt lists two different model= options being passed to the snd-hda-intel module, model=laptop and model=3stack. The model=laptop option was being passed in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf and the model=3stack was being set in /etc/modprobe.d/lanai-sound . I commented out the model=3stack line so that I was only passing model=laptop and my sound worked on the next reboot. I also tested a suspend and resume and sound has continued to work. Similar bug on my PC. When the installation process gets to file copying, i get a #5 IO error (Can't copy files to HDD) Then I plugged the HDD to ICH9 SATA port, and set JMICRON to Enabled, IDE. The installation was smooth (although the partition wizard was working very slowly both this time and the previous try). After rebooting, I booted Ubuntu as usual, but I got an error message, that it can't login as root. The only thing availible was busybox. Then it gets stuck at initramfs with "ata2: COMRESET failed" error. Booting in safemode didn't make any difference. [Bug 277623] [NEW] [intrepid] touch pad speed reset when return from suspend
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu intrepid (development branch) Release:8.10 Using the beta release of Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10. When I boot the computer, my touchpad speed that I initially set works fine. However, when I suspend the laptop, and then resume, the touchpad speed is set back to default (really slow). Restarting X with ctrl+alt+backspace fixes the problem. The touchpad speed upon resuming from suspend should be consistent with what it is when the system is cold booted. Configurations should not be lost when the system resumes from suspend. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [intrepid] touch pad speed reset when return from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 254129] Re: Sync with upstream 5.0.51-10 for CVE-2008-2079
Hi, Does this impact to Hardy also? I don't see any updates released for Hardy, even though it uses 5.0.51-3. If it's a security issue, it should be backported. Thanks! [Bug 260765] Re: DVD playback does not work anymore
Just did the latest round of updates. I tried "The Matrix" and "Transformers" and both displayed the main menu, ad I could browse through the menus and turn subtitles on and chapter selection, but once the main title started playing, I could not seek through the movie or use the menu items to return to the main menu. -- DVD playback does not work anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260765 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This is also not fixed for me. I just did the latest updates. [Bug 269656] Re: AN IRRELEVANT LICENSE IS PRESENTED TO YOU FREE-OF-CHARGE ON STARTUP
If Mozilla wants an EULA, let them have it. Firefox is a great browser, is open source, and is perfectly compatible with Windows. That to me is more valuable than having an EULA appear that no one reads and everyone agrees to anyway. If this turns out to be a real problem to everyone, check out what Epiphany is doing with Webkit. [Bug 214468] Re: [removal request] Remove all java 1.4 bits from hardy (Was: Epiphany crashes inside xulrunner when j2re1.4 is installed)
Me too... I need java 1.4 and I can't get it properly installed. I used make-jpkg to build a .deb package from the java 1.4 bin file and now I can't install it because it conflicts with xulrunner... [Bug 188669] Re: [needs-packaging] kde4 konqueror plugins
I guess I'm a bit confused as to why out of everything, they forget plugins Lol, sigh. So does this mean basically we wait for a new version to be released with the update or is there anything I can do in the mean time to get version 4.0.3 of konqueror to recognize the flash plugin I have installed? [Bug 236264] Re: Evolution asks my pasword to unlock the default keyring since last update
This still is a bug for those users with automatic logon. Someone logging on automatically is not generally going to want to enter a password to get to their email. At least, if they do they should have to switch it on. My wife doesn't even know the password (my choice to reduce the risk of inappropriate admin activity without having 2 accounts) but uses Evolution for her email. You can image the hassle this is causing me, and de-encrypting all my other keyring passwords is hardly a recommended security procedure... Please just let auto-login users auto-login to Evolution, unless they really want to do it differently. -- Evolution asks my pasword to unlock the default keyring since last update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 218788] Re: nautilus refuses to mount a partition after manually setting new mount point
I just figured out why it does this today. You are supposed to enter the name of the folder you want the drive to be mounted in under /media, not the entire directory path itself. For example, if I want my thumb drive to have the mount point /media/thumb, I enter just "thumb" in the mount point field. The error message is telling you that you can't have forward slashes in the mount name, but I agree, it is very cryptic. -- nautilus refuses to mount a partition after manually setting new mount point https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218788 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
