Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ettercap
When I uncomment this chain : # if you use iptables: #redir_command_on = "iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i %iface -p tcp --dport %port -j REDIRECT --to-port %rport" #redir_command_off = "iptables -t nat -D PREROUTING -i %iface -p tcp --dport %port -j REDIRECT --to-port %rport" Ettercap doesn't seem to work well. I get this message iptables v1.3.8: can't initialize iptables table `nat': Permission denied (you must be root) Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. I found a solution that works by changing ec_uid to equal 0 : [privs] ec_uid = 65534 # nobody is the default ec_gid = 65534 # nobody is the default Like this : [privs] ec_uid = 0 # nobody is the default ec_gid = 65534 # nobody is the default I use Ubuntu 9.04 and the ettercap package comes from the official repository.
