[Bug 176553] Re: Powertop reports that CPU state is C0 100% of the time, regardless of number of wakeups
I'm not 100% sure if it's this bug or not but I'm having problem which looks like that on Xubuntu 8.10 on very old laptop hardware MiTAC-6133. "cat /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/power" says: active state: C0 max_cstate: C7 (or C8, not sure) ... and I have: C0 (cpu running) (100%) C1 0,0ms (0%) C2 0,0ms (0%) C3 0,0ms (0%) Which is indeed just like it shows even if my CPU usage is only ~1-2% becase I have CPU Fan running at full speed with ACPI turned ON. When I boot _without_ ACPI CPU Fan is working just like it should - only when CPU usage is high. To use ACPI I have to boot with "acpi=force" option passed to kernel because of BIOS older than year 1999. Sorry for flooding bug comment. I can now confirm that this bug doesn't exist for me and I have get rid of my bug, too. Kernel parameters "acpi=force nolapic noapic idle=halt" solved my problems. And these "ifconfig : pcnet_open (ei_watchdog)" I have only with ethernet cable pluged in so I think it must be much traffic on ethernet waking up CPU from idle. Interesting that limiting CPU idle state to C0-C1 with HALT eats less power than default C0-C3 and with HALT I have fan working only when CPU usage is high. -- Powertop reports that CPU state is C0 100% of the time, regardless of number of wakeups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176553 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

It's not solved there. There is ugly workaround for it on arch. I've said before this issue doesn't seem to exist on my hardware but after a bit more testing I found it does exist, too. I use my computer for few hours a day. But I can reproduce hangs by for example use k3b 1.0.5 (kde3 app) and for example tvtime for analog tv watching using xv at the same time (kdetv doesn't work in kubuntu 9.04 (regression in 9.04 after upgrade from 8.10 - described in bug #325874) but it occurs after some time and using dialogs in k3b. I've found that it occurs (I think) with gtk apps too on kubuntu (it happened to me just one time or maybe twice). It might be because of one of desktop effects plugins (one of the enabled by default). After hang I can still use sysrq (mostly). I've tested one of the latests svn build few days before the 0.8.5 release and I'm supprised how it works. It's already great. It works a lot better than Adobe Flash Plugin in Konqueror. I can watch youtube videos (and navigate there, too), watch flash banners and advertisers, use flash menus on the web sites. It doesn't crash as frequently as original flash plugin and it's FLOSS. It consumes much of the CPU power when watching flash video but adobe plugin does it, too (and is more buggy). It's not (yet) 100% compatibile with original flash but it's compatibility is very promising. -- FFe: please sync with upstream version of Gnash .8.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/338074 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 325874] Re: [JauntyKdetv does not see/show my tv card (regression)
I experience the same bug. Before upgrade (from 8.10 to 9.04) all my video devices worked just fine - "noname" BT878 analog tv card, AVerTV GO 007 FM Plus SAA7xxx analog tv card, usb webcam - they worked from kubuntu 6.06 til now. Video devices are recognised properly by kernel (had to pass options for modules to use specified tuner) and are working properly in other analog tv apps (for example tvtime) but are not found by kdetv. The kdetv version is the same as in (k)ubuntu 8.10 (0.8.9) so it looks like packaging or patching problem. Since lintv is not ready yet, I have no kde alternative to watch analog tv in my computer (using tvtime or xawtv is not an option for me). [Bug 328528] Re: [i865G] UXA locks up system (UXA bug)
I've done some testing on i865G and I found that Xorg locks up with UXA (enabled manually by Option "AccelMethod" "UXA" in xorg.conf) when "drm" and "i830" kernel modules are not loaded - they are not loaded at startup time. It's strange that DRI is disabled by Xorg [(**) intel(0): DRI is disabled because it fails to run on 845G and 865G chips. (See LP 304871)] - even when passing Option "DRI" "true" to xorg.conf. I've booted todays kubuntu jaunty i386 cd with EXA enabled by default on this chipset, then stoped KDM (checked in process list that "X" is not running - "ps aux | grep X"), then added 'Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"' in Device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Next I've done 'sudo modprobe i830' in console so it loaded 'drm' and 'i830' modules - /dev/dri/card0 has appeared, then started pure Xorg by 'sudo X' - Xorg has run without problems (black screen but I suppose it's ok because on EXA and XAA have the same. Then I've installed 'xterm' and run 'DISPLAY=:0.0 xterm' as root on other console - then xterm connected but right after lost it's connection to xserver. Then I saw that Xorg started from console showed this (just after the xterm tried to connect to X): X: ../../src/i830_batchbuffer.h:78: intel_batch_emit_dword: Assertion `pI830->batch_ptr != ((void *)0)' failed. (and core dumped, but I didn't found that core file by "find / -iname '*core*'" that would be core dump) I'm attaching Xorg.0.log with that UXA start, too but I can't see errors there. Then I've tried to modprobe and rmmod intel drm modules - insert i810 module (no error but no dri device), removing all drm modules - i830, i810 and drm - dri device in /dev/dri/card0 has disappeared and modules have unloaded (double checked by "lsmod | less" and "lsmod | grep i8", "lsmod | grep drm"). Then I've started X just the same way as before - it have not crashed or locked, connected xterm - then it has crashed with just the same error. I've repeated the whole procedure 3 times (with rebooting cd) and always the same results - X locks up system with UXA when no drm modules loaded, but crashes X (when connecting xterm or other X apps) when drm kernel modules for this chipset are loaded - since then it crashes (not locks up) even when I unload kernel modues until I reboot and start once more from the same cd. Kernel drm modules does not change anything with EXA or XAA - I've checked that, too. It could change somthing if DRI could be enabled at Xorg startup. Maybe there were other modules than 'drm' and 'i830' which where loaded by 'modprobe i830' and I've should done diff from 'lsmod' before and after modprobe but I haven't thought about it then and I've didn't do it and now I don't have access to that hardware and probably wont have access to it until RC or stable release of Jaunty. Can anyone confirm that? ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log with UXA on i865G with i830 kernel module loaded and xterm trying to connect to X locally" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/24708962/Xorg.0.log -- [i865G] UXA locks up system (UXA bug) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328528 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can now confirm that klash works properly with flash content on some sites I've tested (launched by "kde4-gnash http://website/flash_content.swf"; in console - urls and content parameters extracted from web sites source) and indeed "description=Shockwave Flash 10.0.0.544" would help a lot - there are many sites with excessive dependency on flash 9 or 10 even with simple flash content which flash compatibile player compatibile with 6 or 7 can process without problems. -- Deprecated klash kde3 binaries removed and not replaced with gnash-kde4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318849 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 14911] Re: Flash plugin problem with ARGB visuals causes crash
I have installed flashplayer plugin 9 beta 2 from labs.adobe.com site and it looks that this bug in flashplayer has been fixed there. Firefox works without problems now in 16bit depth and without XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS setting. Now we need to get this packaged for ubuntu. -- Flash plugin problem with ARGB visuals causes crash https://launchpad.net/bugs/14911 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
