Two suggestions for slight improvements to that patch: 1. Define the "-1" or "-0ubuntu1" as a macro so that it only needs hard- coding in the script once. 2. Detect whether we are on Debian, or Ubuntu, and only switch to using the alternative postfix if we are on Ubuntu With these, it should be possible to get the patch upstream into Debian and avoid carrying/maintaining the diff in the future. -- uupdate should appends -0ubuntu1 instead of -1 to the version number https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236526 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 296710] Re: warning: ehci_hcd loaded AFTER uhci_hcd and ohci_hcd
Scott: sure, but compiling this in hasn't fixed that bug either... but has had the (negative) impact of just making it even harder to diagnose/debug with end-users. Eg. it's no longer possible to request "Hi XYZ, could you try 'modprobe -r abcd_hci' then 'modprobe ...' and post 'find /sys -path ... | xargs grep .' " We've instead just got a massive black box that collectively "doesn't work as of -11.38" with no possibility of an interim workaround while it's investigated. Ubuntu was about the first distribution to go fully modular and has benefited significantly from that choice. It wasn't /easy/ to do; all the hard stuff with initramfs building and module hooks was *made to work*, even though it was complex. If boot-speed and an easy life are the only reasons to ditch that policy of modularity then it's the focus narrow-minded and not being forward looking. Presumbly the kernel does not have a single 'usb_hci' module for a reason; but this "subtle" change has created one. -- warning: ehci_hcd loaded AFTER uhci_hcd and ohci_hcd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296710 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Upstream changelog follows: v1.0.2.0 (2009-04-05) * If a train does not explicitly specify the operating pressure of the brake pipe, it is now assumed to be 490 kPa if applicable. The train.dat documentation describes this in more detail. * Bugfix: PNG and GIF textures are now synchronously loaded in order to prevent them from ending up in the alpha rendering list where applicable (which is more expensive to render and can cause visual glitches if too heavily populated due to the use of depth sorting). * Bugfix: The RefreshRate parameter in animated objects was not applied if the animated object was used as a train exterior object. * Bugfix: Beacons which appeared before the starting position were not triggered, causing some trains to operate incorrectly on some routes. v1.0.1.0 (2009-03-29) * The stop indicator previously showed in Expert mode, which was not intended. It is now displayed only in Arcade and Normal modes. Additionally, the debug output is now unavailable in Expert mode. * Camera settings are now preserved when changing interior, exterior and track views. The zoom is reset though when switching the views. * The scrolling speed inside the cab has been made slightly slower. * Some compatibility graphics (needles) have been resaved as 8-bit per channel RGBA in order to appear correctly on Linux. * The code that applied transparency to the SDL window icon is now only executed on Windows. It could previously crash the program on Linux. * Warning messages are now shown again in openBVE. However, both warning and error messages can now be invidually disabled in the Options menu. Developers are strictly encouraged to leave these settings enabled, though. * Track positions in RW and CSV routes now require to adhere to the Strict number format. Previously, they were interpreted as Loose, which could mess up the route too much if an invalid statement was interpreted as a track position. * A default set of points of interests is now included for every station if the route does not define any points of interest itself. * The sound subsystem can now be deactivated in the options.cfg. * OpenBve64.exe is now available. It can be used on 64-bit systems that also provide 64-bit versions of the dependencies. * Bugfix: Entering the Jump to station menu previously crashed the program with an Index was outside the bounds of the array when the route did not have any stations. The menu entry is not displayed any longer. * Bugfix: In animated objects, the leftdoorstarget and rightdoorstarget variables could previously crash the program with an Index was outside the bounds of the array message, or these variables simply didn't work correctly. * Bugfix: In animated objects, texture clamping was disabled and could lead to visual artifacts at the edges of some textures. v1.0.0.0 (2009-03-23) * Fixed a bug that made the train topple and derail to the wrong side when driving backward. * Messages about missing support for Windows-only DLL plugins on Linux/Mac are now only generated if the train actually uses a plugin. * If an exception (runtime error) occurs inside a plugin, openBVE now crashes with the name of the plugin being reported. 0.9 series (development) v0.9.7.0 * Fixed a bug that made digital gauges (LEDs) appear incorrectly since 0.9.6.0. * Modified some of the ingame-displays, including bringing back old stop indicator and repositioning fps/clock/speed indicators. * The A.I. now drives at 80%-100% of the route speed, depending on a random initial choice. This adds some slight variation to the preceding train. v0.9.6.0 * The in-game displays have been redrawn to result in a hopefully more professional look. * Cant (superelevation) is now interpolated between blocks to give a smoother ride. * The built-in security systems now cut off power when the doors are not fully closed. * The volume of flange sounds has been slightly adjusted. * Fixed a bug that caused a crash when colliding backward with buffer stop. * Fixed a design flaw in the sound manager that could randomly prevent sounds from playing on some sound cards. ** Affects: openbve (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Assignee: Paul Sladen (sladen) Status: In Progress ** Affects: openbve-data (Ubuntu) Importance: Low Assignee: Paul Sladen (sladen) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: openbve (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided =
[Bug 356615] [NEW] FFe bve-route-cross-city-south/bve-train-br-class-323 for jaunty/universe
Public bug reported: This Feature Freeze exception regards separately downloaded and specifically negotiated public domain data-files to go with the 'OpenBVE' rail simulator, which is already in Universe. The proposed packages have been uploaded to: http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/bve-route-cross-city-south http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/bve-train-br-class-323 The original needs-packaging is bug #331188, which groups the four .debs: openbve (Simulator engine/game engine) openbve-data(Support files; icons, languages, ...) bve-route-cross-city-south (Negotiated separately as a PD release) bve-train-br-class-323 (Negotiated separately again, also under PD) The game engine and its support files were uploaded in February and accepted into Universe, immediately before Feature Freeze. The route/train packages did not get uploaded at the same time because of the circumstances: * Last minute negotiation over public domain releases (and non-free cleansing by upstreams) * Large .orig upload size (~30 MB) combined, not possible over unreliable GPRS access at the time In the meantime, the game engine has gone 1.0, with a series of small bugfix releases. This 1.0 release fixed bugs and reduced the patch delta between the Ubuntu .deb and upstream and thus 1.0.2.0 is now in the archive. The train/route packages both contain *no executable code*. There is *no direct dependency* between the packages, meaning that there should be a low risk of package/build issues this close to release. The game engine, route and train package are related based a: Provides/Recommends: bve-engine, bve-train, bve-route relationship combination to allow single-click GUI installation of all of the jigsaw pieces (if available). Currently there are no other BVE {train, route} files in the archive. [Bug 356705] [NEW] remove 'openbve-data-icons' from jaunty/universe
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openbve-data-icons Please remove the source and binaries. 'openbve-data-icons' provided a small number of additional icons that were missing from the upstream's 'openbve-data' tarball because they were not public domain. The new upstream release now includes alternative icons and there is no need for this add-on. The relationship between the packages was "soft", in that: openbve-data-icons Enhances: openbve-data openbve-data: Recommends: openbve-data-icons 'openbve-data=1.0.2.0+dfsg-0ubuntu1' now omits this relationship; the total lifetime of the package being required has been approximately 8 weeks and should ideally be removed from the archive before the final jaunty release. As the filenames have changed slightly in the process, the packages do not conflict. But if suggested, I'll do another upload with Provides: and Conflicts: but given the short-lifetime, it should be sufficient to drop it completely and let the autoremover clear it up. ** Affects: openbve-data-icons (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- remove 'openbve-data-icons' from jaunty/universe https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/356705 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 337775] Re: no "usability sane" way to reboot jaunty without mouse
The solution, then, is to add the necessary hooks to gnome-panel, so that any panel-applet with a menu can be sanely (eg. volume control, nm- applet, ...) opened using the same keyboard sequence. This is something that could benefit from proper fixing, as there are only so-many "special" keys and combinations available. In this case it would actually be that FUSA would be cycled to the _left_ (wrapping around). It's something that should most be taken upstream, as just looking along my panel there's a lot of user-interface inconsistency between applets; some highlight-themselves, some require a click, some pop-open a text- entry box, some just show a tooltip; and most of these also have a second action available via the right-click action. -- no "usability sane" way to reboot jaunty without mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
