[Bug 395516] [NEW] Toner levels are available, but not reported to CUPS

2009-07-04 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hplip

I have a HP CP1515n printer, and the toner levels can be read using the
hplip tools.

I was expecting the toner info to be exported though the "normal" CUPS
gui (system-config-printer -> properties -> Ink/toner levels) as well,
but that property page only shows "Marker levels are not reported for
this printer".

Please make it so marker levels are reported through the standard CUPS
gui.

[Bug 346648] Re: [patch] Develop in UFRaw won't work in Dutch locale, because of escaping problems

2009-04-12 Thread Martijn vdS
I know the patch is a bit "dirty", as it just adds another special case
while it should use a generic "escape everything" method from somewhere.
However, I don't know the C# standard library well (or at all) and I
couldn't find any other instances of string escaping in other C#
programs in Ubuntu.

[Bug 402188] [NEW] gvim complains about "gtk_form_set_static_gravity: assertion `static_gravity_supported' failed" in the shell it's started from

2009-07-21 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vim

When running gvim (from vim-gnome) from a gnome-terminal, the terminal
will get spammed with the following message:

** (gvim:5944): CRITICAL **: gtk_form_set_static_gravity: assertion
`static_gravity_supported' failed

A few times on startup, and then every time a new window is opened
inside vim (for example, when using :split)

gvim works fine otherwise, it's just annoying to get these warnings.

[Bug 398905] [NEW] Single image view doesn't show image

2009-07-13 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

Since the last update (maybe of GTK+, maybe of f-spot, I don't know
exactly as I don't run f-spot every day), f-spot is behaving strangely.
When I want to view a single image (double click in the image list
view), I get a grey square instead of the photo I'm expecting to see.

I'm guessing it could be related to the "Windowless GDK" thing. Or it
might not be.

[Bug 416284] [NEW] Device disk usage graph doesn't match numbers below it

2009-08-20 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

The "percentage of disk used" bar on the MP3 player pages doesn't agree
with the numbers.

It says 4.4GB in use by audio, 5.9GB free -- but the graphic indicates
>50% usage.

Re-attaching the device fixes the graph, so I think it's convert/upload-

[Bug 416796] [NEW] Killswitch state seems reversed

2009-08-20 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bluez-gnome

The bluetooth-properties dialog has a toggle for "hci0 kill switch",
which feels like it's the wrong way around.

When the toggle is active (there's a tick in the box), bluetooth is
active, while the text next to it says "hci0 bluetooth killswitch".
Removing the tick disables the bluetooth radio.

I was expecting the tick to work the other way around: tick = killswitch
active = no radio

[Bug 413454] [NEW] evince can't access locale-related files because apparmor settings are too strict

2009-08-14 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

The AppArmor profile included with evince 2.27.90-0ubuntu2 seems to be
too restrictive, as evince can't read its localization files anymore,
according to dmesg:

[Bug 512196] [NEW] "Show rhythmbox" an "Quit rhythmbox" are too close together in the indicator menu

2010-01-24 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

In lucid, using the new indicator menus, the "Quit" menu item is right
below the "Show Rhythmbox" item.

As the "Show" item is the only way to display a "hidden" rhythmbox, I
use it often. I also /miss/ often, so I have to restart rb a lot.

Adding a separator between the two items or moving the "Show" item to
the top of the menu should make mis-clicking much less frequent.

[Bug 528282] [NEW] Xorg acts weird on boot [intel, Dell E6500]

2010-02-26 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I start Lucid on my new laptop, I get the Ubuntu logo in the middle
of the screen. At the moment I'd expect to get a login screen, the logo
disappears and I get some text -- AND the Xorg mouse cursor!

I can then switch to another VT and back to the X VT to get the login
screen, but as soon as I log in, X crashes.

When I then login a second time, everything works as expected.

[Bug 530195] [NEW] Twitter doesn't work at all

2010-03-01 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

I've just installed Ubuntu 10.04, and I've set up my Twitter and
Facebook accounts in the "Microblog settings" screen. I can now post to
Facebook fine (I also get loads of facebook updates in my Gwibber main
window), but I can't seem to get anything to/from Twitter.

No tweets from other people, my new tweets don't get to the website,
etc.

My password is correct (checked it a LOT of times).

How do I go about debugging this?

My Gobi 2000 works fine with 2.3.35-rc1 mainline (from the kernel-team
PPA) + the gobi-loader tool from

In 2.3.34 /dev/ttyUSB0 doesn't show up, so firmware uploading can't be

[Bug 549080] [NEW] "Cloudy night" weather icon (moon + cloud) looks like a wizard's hat

2010-03-26 Thread Martijn vdS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

We've had a few cloudy nights here in the Netherlands, and as a result
the weather bit of the clock applet shows a "moon + cloud" state.

>From a distance, this looks somewhat like a wizard's hat, right next to
the indicators, which made me wonder what kind of wizard I was running,
and why it would put an icon in the indicator bar.

Maybe the icon needs a little tweaking :)

I've set my encoding preferences to "Ogg Vorbis" (using right-click on

[Bug 433008] [NEW] Playing FLAC with replaygain on, volume goes to zero in the first second

2009-09-19 Thread Martijn vdS

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I play a FLAC file with ReplayGain information in Rhythmbox with
the ReplayGain feature enabled (gconf /apps/rhythmbox/use_replaygain =

Turning the ReplayGain feature off (using gconf-editor) makes the volume
slider behave normally again (immediately!). It stays at 0 until you
move it though.

[Bug 955816] [NEW] Logging in with UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 makes unity-panel-services crash continuously

2012-03-15 Thread Martijn vdS

I created /etc/X11/Xsession.d/85local with one line of content: "export

This turned the global menus off correctly, but it also made all the
indicators disappear (sometimes they'd show for a fraction of a second).

Looking in my logs, I found unity-panel-service was crashing, being
restarted, etc.:
