[Bug 990693] [NEW] Return to login screen after press enter key

2012-04-28 Thread Ludovico
Public bug reported:

Three times in two days i noticed this bug.
After I pressed the enter key on the keyboard ubuntu returned to the login
screen with a logout of the current session.
I can't reproduce the bug because i think it happens randomly (one time when i
copied two files and another time when i surfed with chrome).

I use Ubuntu 12.04 64Bit and I installed only Keepass2, Chrome and the
driver amd 12.4. The system is clean like out of the box.

[Bug 274405] Re: network manager slow to reconnect after suspend/resume

2008-12-06 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Same problem for me; I have 8.10 with an Intel 3945abg card (iwl3945 driver) in
an HP laptop.
If I run "sudo iwlist scan" network manager wakes up afrter a few seconds.
Note that I need to run it with sudo, otherwise as a non-root user the wireless
card won't do a channel-hopping scan, so it won't find all the networks.
Thanks!

Today I tried the new filter, but I did not work for me. I had to

Two notes:
-the pulseaudio volume control has the (IMHO annoying) side effect of
starting recording on all devices in order show a realtime input level.
This may be the reason it eat the CPU (anyway, it shouldn't!)
-"connection failed: connection terminated" means that pulseaudio
crashed. Have a look at yout /var/log/syslog right after the crash.

About the backported packages: I backported all the packages need to
make it work on my PPA
https://launchpad.net/~cavedon/+archive/ppa
i.e.
-bluez
-pulseaudio
-alsa-lib

Unfortunately the newer pulseaudio (0.9.15) depends on a newer version
of alsa-lib which is not available on jaunty.
Unfortunately, I see it really unlikely that alsa-lib get officially
backported, because they are a very common library.

[Bug 312898] Re: libxxx-unstripped should also Provide libxxx

2009-02-24 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Applications built against the stripped version should be able to run
against the unstripped version without recompilation (and in fact
qutecom/wengophone is able to); the application should just have fewer
or more codecs available (are there other differences btw?).

I want to be able to build the official package using the stripped-dev libs and
run it against the unstripped runtime.
Yes I could work in a chroot, but sometimes it is annoying

That was in answer to bojo42, who was proposing unstripped-dev packages.

I agree, but sometimes for development and testing it is convenient to
work outside.

I am not referring to this case.

My use case is: qutecom/wengophone video support is disabled at runtime
if ffmpeg is stripped. Currently I am not able to compile and run it and
test the video, without keeping on switching between -dev packages and
unstripped packages,

but still it does not work:

Apr 26 23:24:01 manfredi pulseaudio[3676]: module-bluetooth-device.c: Received

Answering to komputes:
there are two ways to access a bluetooth headset:
-directly via pulseaudio (but does not work, according to this bug)
-thorugh alsa, but does not work according to bug #350829

Note that skype and audacity use the second way, while pavucontrol uses
the first. About gnome-volume-control, I do not think it will ever show
a control for the headset, as it is not seen as sound card

[Bug 373367] [NEW] Pointer goes offscreen on non-rectangular dual-head

2009-05-07 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On a non-rectangular multi-monitor layout (e.g. when using monitors with
different resolutions) the mouse pointer can be positioned outside the
areas displayed by the monitors.

For example, with a configuration like
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3200 x 1200, maximum 3200 x 1200
VGA connected 1920x1200+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 518mm
x 324mm
LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x
190mm

The mouse pointer and some graphics part like dropdown menus can go in
the non-visible area below LVDS.

It is the same symptom as bug #119417. However this bug is for the Intel
chipset. I am opening a separate bug as indicated by

Just to avoid confusion, I was *not* using the setup described in

I did not do anything particular apart from installing pulsaudio 0.9.15
and bluez 4.37 as indicated in
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/327284/comments/19

The easy fix I mentioned is that if you try to build bluez it will fail
complaining that it cannot find a file "pulse.conf". I just located the
line giving the error in debian/rules and changed the filename from
"pulse.conf" to "bluetooth.conf". I am not sure it is the right thing
to, but it worked for now.
Anyway bluez 4.37 has been uploaded to karmic:
https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez
so it may be worth backporting.

[Bug 151112] Re: network-manager-pptp does not change mtu even if specified

2008-06-17 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
I am experiencing the same problem (hardy amd64).
If I specifiy the mtu in the a /etc/ppp/peers/file and use "pon file" to
connect to the vpn, mtu is set correctly. But with network-manager, even if
"mtu 1300" is specified on the command line of pppd, the setting is not
effective.

[Bug 151112] Re: network-manager-pptp does not change mtu even if specified

2008-06-17 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
I checked the code: it has been modified and the fix is no longer included, so
the MTU is always set to 1412 for VPN interfaces.
I tried to commenting the code which sets the MTU, so it should leave the value
set by pppd.

[Bug 312451] [NEW] symlinking in doc dir should skip changelog

2008-12-30 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cdbs

The Ubuntu feature:
  Symlink /usr/share/doc/ files to identical
versions in any depending package which is built by the source package
(except copyright, to adhere to Debian Policy).

should avoid creating links to the changelog, in order not to trigger the
lintian warning:
http://lintian.debian.org/tags/debian-changelog-file-is-a-symlink.html
