[Bug 188282] Re: hardy install alpha5 loops: broadcom: no firmware file
Just installed Alpha 6 and found the same issue. Blacklisted b43 and ssb and commented out the blacklist for bcm43xx made the bcm43xx to load. That did not let me install firmware from the restricted driver manager. How can I install the firmware manually for bcm43xx. -- hardy install alpha5 loops: broadcom: no firmware file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188282 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 580449] Re: [i965gm] X often crashes when starting xmoto levels (i915 GPU hung)
Ive found out why the error messages are displayed/X crashes: Its because of the ghost drawing effect in xmoto. I have by default activated: use motion blur ghost. My gfx hardware doesnt support that effect, and throws driver error messages. In ubuntu 8.10 with older intel drivers, this was probably catched by the driver, because I also had it activated, but never a problem with it. So calling a openGL function which is not supported by the hardware produces a failing gfx driver (for newer intel driver versions). -- [i965gm] X often crashes when starting xmoto levels (i915 GPU hung) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 580449] Re: [i965gm] X often crashes when starting xmoto levels (i915 GPU hung)
Some more hints on the problem from developer communication: xmoto test if the graphic card handles the pixel shaders before using the pixel shaders functions so it seems your card is telling xmoto that it can handle it, but then it hangs when xmoto ask to use them > basically, before calling the function, there are call to the card to ask > if > > > these 3 extensions are supported of not. If there are not, xmoto disable > the > > > blur effect. > > > What does your card say ? > > > excerpt from xmoto.log: > > GL: Mesa DRI Intel(R) 965GM GEM 20091221 2009Q4 x86/MMX/SSE2 (Tungsten > > Graphics, Inc) > > GL: using ARB_vertex_buffer_object > > GL: using EXT_framebuffer_object > > GL: using ARB_fragment_shader/ARB_vertex_shader/ARB_shader_objects > > Resolution: 800x600 (32 bpp) so, it means that the driver pretends to support these features, but it seems that there are not well developped in the driver and make the program crash. -- [i965gm] X often crashes when starting xmoto levels (i915 GPU hung) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 580449] [NEW] X often crashes when starting xmoto levels (Intel GM965: i915 GPU hung)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel When starting a level in XMoto (0.5.3 src package), X crashes and falls back to GDM login screen. This doesnt always happen, but in ~70% of cases. Syslog is telling afterwards: May 14 12:31:26 schlepp kernel: [ 7462.920032] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... I guess this is connected to the problem. Hi just tested Karmic RC (live USB) on my Thinkpad x32 (ATI M6 LY). With visual effects activated (default), artifacts appear quickly fill the screen, which become unusable (as before). Notifications aren't visible (white background with light artifacts) and the system monitor is as mentionned before, tartan style. Without visual effects, there aren't any artifact except for the notifications/system monitor, which problem remains. Conclusion: nothing new. By the way, I tested Abiword without visual effects and typed some text in it and didn't see any corruption. Re: [Bug 653378] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()
I listen to rhythmbox everyday, I haven't experienced any crash since I've reported the bug. I have notice that when I use VideoLan to watch a movie, it seems to look the audio device. After that sound is muted on rhythmbox and on flashplayer (ex Youtube), I don't know if this has something to do with the crash.
