I can't provide more information on this bug, since I don't use Ubuntu
anymore on the laptop where I found it.

[Bug 610361] Re: Openvpn: Connection succesful only when using TAP device

2010-12-14 Thread Frederik Möllers
Sorry for taking so long, I didn't notice the activity here, since my e-mail
notification rarely works.
I've installed the packages and can confirm that the VPN is now working
correctly, thanks a lot!
There are still some error messages in /var/log/daemon.log:

nm-openvpn[5709]: WARNING: Since you are using --dev tun with a point-to-point
topology, the second argument to --ifconfig must be an IP address. You are
using something (255.255.255.128) that looks more like a netmask. (silence this
warning with --ifconfig-nowarn)
or
nm-dispatcher.action: Script '/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d/01ifupdown'
exited with error status 1.

But in the end everything is working. I get a connection and I can use
it to connect elsewhere. So I guess the errors are mostly irrelevant for
me.

Thanks again for creating the packages!

[Bug 630748] Re: iwlagn degrades quickly during normal wifi session

2011-05-10 Thread Frederik Möllers
I still have problems with N networks on my HP TouchSmart tm2-1090eg. It works
way better than back in 10.10, but surfing websites is still hardly possible
(wasn't possible at all in 10.10 from what I observed).
My adapter:
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000

dmesg doesn't tell me about errors, the only thing I observed while switching
the card off and back on again was the following (besides all the "loading
regulatory settings..."):
[12017.396071] iwlagn :03:00.0: Not sending command - RF KILL
[12017.396079] iwlagn :03:00.0: Error sending REPLY_RXON: enqueue_hcmd

[Bug 663298] Re: No wifi connection possible with intel centrino wireless-n 1000 on Maverick while Bluetooth is turned off

2010-11-07 Thread Frederik Möllers
Some more info:
When pressing the (hardware) wifi button on the laptop, "rfkill list" reports
that both bluetooth and wifi are "hard blocked". When enabling wifi by hardware
but disabling bluetooth by software, rfkill reports that bluetooth is "soft
blocked", but wifi isn't blocked at all.
Also, existing wifi connections are not destroyed upon turning off bluetooth.
Only new connections fail.

You can also use synclient to set "AreaBottomEdge" to a value other than
0 (somewhere between the values of "BottomEdge" and "TopEdge"). That way
You don't need to modify the source and recompile. synclient is in
xserver-xorg-input-synaptics.

[Bug 663298] [NEW] No wifi connection possible at all (neither n nor b/g) with intel centrino wireless-n 1000

2010-10-19 Thread Frederik Möllers
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10 my wifi card (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000)
stopped working. NetworkManager (and
airodump-ng) show me lists of networks and NetworkManager can try to connect to
one, but it never finishes to connect.
dmesg indicates that there is something wrong:

[ 120.616099] wlan0: direct probe to 00:27:0d:09:be:d1 (try 1)
[ 120.816053] wlan0: direct probe to 00:27:0d:09:be:d1 (try 2)
[ 121.016064] wlan0: direct probe to 00:27:0d:09:be:d1 (try 3)
[ 121.216176] wlan0: direct probe to 00:27:0d:09:be:d1 timed out

This block of messages is repeated until I stop trying to connect. It happens
on multiple networks, I tried it on n and b/g networks, encrypted with WPA2 and
without any encryption at all). The messages are always the same.
After collecting the information for this bug report, a more informative
message popped out of dmesg:

As i said, this behavior only appeared after upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10.
However, I could _not_ get the wifi to work by booting Ubuntu 10.04.1 from a
Live-USB-drive. I also tried the mainline kernel corresponding to my current
kernel version (mainline kernel 2.6.35.4) which didn't help.
Windows 7 x64 Prof. on the same machine can connect to wifi networks just fine,
so the error does not seem to be hardware related.
As long as this error persists, I cannot use my wifi card at all.

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10

[Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2010-10-19 Thread Frederik Möllers
I can confirm the fix working on an HP Touchsmart tm2-1090eg notebook.

The jumpy cursor problem is a matter of configuration as far as I know.
Use "synclient" to see what values are used in openSUSE and Ubuntu and
try them out. Setting "JumpyCursorThreshold" to 100 worked well for me.

[Bug 610361] Re: Openvpn: Connection succesful only when using TAP device

2010-09-20 Thread Frederik Möllers
I can confirm this bug, it has also been reported to the NetworkManager
bugtracker:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=629807

The problem seems to be that NetworkManager and/or OpenVPN are unable to
set up a tun interface with a subnet topology. The only working
alternatives are a tun interface with a point-to-point topology and a
tap device with a subnet topology. However, if the VPN configuration
only allows a tun interface with a subnet topology, the network is
unusable for NM users.
