[Bug 97588] Re: feisty beta mounts all partitions
In Hardy the Storage (and Multimedia) tabs are no longer available in the "Removable Drives and Media Preferences", and I have not been able to find an other dialog with the "Mount removable drives when hot-plugged" and "Mount removable media when inserted" options. However, the "noauto" lines in /etc/fstab are obeyed now. [Bug 299454] [NEW] Itrepid Ibex: Nautilus list mode quick search inconsistency.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Intrepid: In Nautilus list mode navigate to e.g. /etc and in the right (list) pane type the letter "s". In the LRH corner a text entry box pops up and the "samba" directory is highlighted in the middle of the list pane. Now double click on the "samba" directory name to open that directory. Instead the topmost directory on list pane ("proftpd" in my case) is opened ... Sometimes first doing a single click helps, but often this single click already opens the topmost directory. The workaround is to hit to close the text popup (or wait for it to close by itself) before doing the double click. In Hardy the single or double click closed the text popup and a next double click was required to open the directory. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Itrepid Ibex: Nautilus list mode quick search inconsistency. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299454 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 294555] Re: with ubuntu8.10 the filebrowser Nautilus 2.24.1 is awfully slow.
I see the same symptom on my x86_64 systems. Hardy was not lightning fast, but workable. After upgrading to Intrepid however things have become unworkable. E.g. Nautilus (List View 50%) takes 35 seconds to open /usr/lib, from there 17 seconds to open vmware, and from there 50 seconds to go up to /usr/lib again. Because I did not see an option to do so. Actually a few days ago I noticed that a partition on /dev/sdb (the external USB disk) for which there is no entry in /etc/fstab still gets mounted. [Bug 1860683] Re: initramfs hang after today's updates
It definitely is the initramfs. After successfully mounting the root filesystem (sda10) the following messages are displayed: -- /scripts/init-bottom/udev: line 25: nuke: not found -- done. -- init: line 303: run-init: not found -- Target filesystem does not have requested /sbin/init. -- init: line 303: run-init: not found (5*) -- No init found. Try passing init= bootarg. Yesterday's ext?fs updates triggered an initramfs rebuild. After restoring my backup I reran those updates and had a good look at the initramfs rebuild messages. I saw a complaint about a missing /lib/klibc-*.so file. And indeed that file is missing. I copied the /lib/klibc-wBFLvVtxy4xJqEadIBJMa78iJz8.so from an other Xubuntu installation and reran things: *problem resolved*. ** Changed in: initramfs-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860683 Title: initramfs hang after today's updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1860683/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767822] [NEW] Xubuntu 18.04 : TigerVNC gives a black screen in the viewer
Public bug reported: Xubuntu 18.04 : TigerVNC gives a black screen in the viewer. In Xubuntu 16.04 I used the TigerVNC 1.8.0 debs as provided by upstream (https://bintray.com/tigervnc/stable/tigervnc/1.8.0#files/ubuntu-16.04LTS%2Famd64). For Xubuntu 18.04 however upstream points to the Ubuntu repositories. I installed the 1.7.0 tigervnc-{common,viewer,{scraping,standalone}-server} debs I found there. I noticed that the /usr/bin/vncserver script was rewritten. Using this new version (vncserver :60) gives a huge black screen in the viewer. It looks like the ~/.vnc/config file is ignored and that X is not started. Luckily the upstream vncserver (.orig) script is also provided. Using that one gives a normally sized, but still black screen. It looks like the ~/.vnc/config file honoured now, but that X is still not started. There is nothing noteworthy in the ~/.vnc/:60.log file. The ~.xsession-errors file however reports: -- Xsession: X session started for root at Sun Apr 29 17:47:33 CEST 2018 -- dbus-update-activation-environment: setting DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:path=/run/user/0/bus -- dbus-update-activation-environment: setting DISPLAY=:60 . -- /usr/bin/x-session-manager: X server already running on display :60 -- xfce4-session: Another session manager is already running ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: tigervnc-standalone-server 1.7.0+dfsg-8ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-20.21-generic 4.15.17 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Sun Apr 29 17:50:54 2018 SourcePackage: tigervnc UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: tigervnc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767822 Title: Xubuntu 18.04 : TigerVNC gives a black screen in the viewer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tigervnc/+bug/1767822/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
