[Bug 1694339] [NEW] Requesting updated builds for older Ubuntu versions (Xenial, etc.)

2017-05-29 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Public bug reported:

The 0.8.6.1 version for Xenial has recently stopped working, most likely due to
the fact that it is using a deprecated API.
The symptoms are that the weather plugin displays "No Data" instead of weather
data.

When can we get a more current build in the official Xenial repositories?
(for the time being, I installed the 0.9.x build from the Zesty series, and it
works just fine in my Ubuntu 16.04 system.)

[Bug 1624071] Re: libnss-resolve: Fallback from resolve to dns breaks DNSSEC validation

2016-11-07 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Glad to see this has been reported. On my system, I can no longer get to any
local nodes by referring to the hostname, so it is pretty clear that hostname
resolution is not working. I was able to circumvent the behavior for only 1
Linux machine by specifying nodename.local, but that doesn't work with my NAS
device. So, I'm kinda stuck... I think this package is currently in
yakkety-proposed (sorry, I still haven't learned how to be able to tell where a
"fix" was released and in what repository it is currently in).
Any idea when this will be released to yakkety-updates ?

[Bug 1647820] [NEW] Hiding a panel makes unhide button invisible

2016-12-06 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Public bug reported:

Configure the top panel with "Expand", "Show hide buttons", and "Arrows on hide
buttons" selected.
When clicking the hide button, the panel slides out of view, leaving a few
pixels in the upper left corner visible, but the space that should be occupied
by the hide button is now occupied by the right-most icons in the panel
(typically the system clock and the power menu in a default panel
configuration.)

[Bug 1202754] Re: update-manager crashed with SystemExit in exit(): 0

2014-04-03 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Seems to be a problem with the PolicyKit, since this issue started for me
today. I can no longer launch SoftwareUpdater or software-center (the latter
just consumes all 4 GB of system memory in a few seconds.)
The only thing that works right now is running it as "gksu update-manager" ...

Also happening for me, on 12.10 64-bit XUbuntu, just after playing media

consuming 100% of 1 CPU (luckily this is a multi-core processor, so I

[Bug 1066511] [NEW] Broken icons in XSensors

2012-10-14 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Public bug reported:

After the upgrade to Quantal, the icons in the XSensors package don't display
properly, causing the XFCE menu to be overwitten by a large bitmap region on
the screen.
Also, the same icons are causing display issues in the Ubuntu Software Center.
I will attach some screenshots.

[Bug 874436] Re: ACPI support broken for the Intel D865PERL board

I have not been able to upgrade to Oneiric because of this bug. Actually, I

completely e-format my drive and restore all the personal files from back-up.
Please let me know why this isn't being escalated -- I am unable to find

[Bug 1098334] Re: [gen4 sna] Font corruption in Chromium tab bar

2013-04-24 Thread Calin Cerghedean
I'm seeing the "jittery" behavior when scrolling any window in Firefox and
Thunderbird.
Also, I have noticed occasional font corruption (to the point that it is
illegible) when using Citrix Receiver to run remote desktop to my corporate
Citrix server (altering the RDP display properties from Full Color to 24-bit,
or 16-bit will normally result in uncorrupted rendering.) This font corruption
may not be at all related, but I have only seen it after upgrading to 13.04
beta.

I tried pointing to raring-proposed, but since I already installed it from the
PPA, it isn't showing up as an available upgrade.
Currently, I have this version installed: 4.10.0-2ubuntu2~raring1
I wonder whether you should bump up the version and republish to -proposed, so
that everyone who previously installed from the PPA gets the official update.
Also, I have seen no crashes since I installed the fix.

2011-04-05 Thread Calin Cerghedean
I have been having the same issue since the initial upgrade to Natty.
After following the recommended steps, Evolution still has an empty
address book, but the error message is a bit different than before.
"DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message
bus)"
...and the terminal window is displaying:

2011-04-06 Thread Calin Cerghedean
Thanks for the suggestion - I was able to find the tokens in the .ini
file, but not in seahorse. In my attempt to get this to work, I deleted
the desktopcouch keys (there were 2 of them yesterday.)

Re: [Bug 727370] Re: Contacts not syncing with my computer

2011-04-07 Thread Calin Cerghedean
I was able to avoid the previous crash (unable to create desktopcouch
object) by deleting the .ini file.
Now, I get an empty address book, and after a few seconds, a timeout
error. Here is the output from the terminal:
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendCouchDBFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendGalFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendExchangeFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendVCFFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendLDAPFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendGroupwiseFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendWebdavFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendGoogleFactory'
e-data-server-Message: adding type `EBookBackendFileFactory'
Server is up and running...

Re: [Bug 727370] Re: Contacts not syncing with my computer

2011-04-07 Thread Calin Cerghedean
I was finally able to fix the issue, by running the following commands:
$ killall -9 e-addressbook-factory
$ /usr/lib/desktopcouch-stop
$ rm ~/.config/desktop-couch/desktop-couchdb.ini
$ /usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory

If I start Evolution right after these steps, you will get a timeout
message, and an empty address book.
The only way this worked for me was to run the desktopcouch-service from
the terminal (see debug messages in the desktopcouch-service.log
attachment.)
Now I actually have my Ubuntu One address book replicated to my machine.
