[Bug 300637] Re: autofill problem evolution enter breaks address

2008-11-21 Thread Bart
In the ;To' area I type any name. for example sophie
In the past when the full address appeared I could hit enter and the full
address was filled in in the To area. But now I get something like this:
"Jansen, Sophie"
Strange thing is, that when I copy paste this to firefox, I get this: "Jansen,
Sophie" , [EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Note the extra > here.

[Bug 369885] Re: lightning-extension makes thunderbird crash

2009-05-11 Thread Bart
I'm also still experiencing this problem.
Thunderbird suddenly segfaults after a while.

When that happens, I can't start it again (constant segmentation faults)
unless I wait about an hour or so.

I can start thunderbird in safe mode.

I also use the google calendar lightning plugin.

I've already tried re-installing thunderbird with no effect.

2009-05-11 Thread Bart
Sorry about the status change, since previous status was new I thought
it would be best to reset it.

I'm using 'Provider for Google Calendar 0.5.1'
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/sunbird/addon/4631

Will try new profile and let you know if it resolves the problem.

[Bug 369885] Re: lightning-extension makes thunderbird crash

2009-05-12 Thread Bart
The problem persists after creating a new profile.
As stated above, I get following error when running in debug mode:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread 0xb7070a00 (LWP 7307)]
0xb72e2078 in strcmp () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6

I'm running Kubuntu 9.04.

I think it's linked to the google calendar plugin.
My thunderbird keeps crashing every time after entering the user and password
for the google calendar (disabled the 'remember password' in testprofile).
When I skip google calendar login (Cancel on login screen), thunderbird works
fine.

[Bug 300637] Re: autofill problem evolution enter breaks address

2009-02-24 Thread Bart
Example:
name in Evolution address book: Jansen, Sophie
Save as field in evolution: Jansen, Sophie
e-mail: sophie.jan...@work.com
e-mail: sophiejan...@gmail.com

The work address gives the problem. If I type 'sophie'
'.jan...@work.com' appears behind the cursor.
If I then enter on the keyboard, I get the following:
"jansen, Sophie" , jan...@work.com>

On other addresses an enter on the keyboard will give:
jansen, sophie (underlined).

Eagle 4.x is not compatible with compiz. That is why you get the ugly
interface. I created a little script so that the interface looks normal.

[Bug 337789] [NEW] p4-clockmod not on x86_64 system

2009-03-04 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: powernowd

I just installed an Ubuntu 8.10 x86_64 system on a pentium D 950 system. Before
on the x32 Ubuntu 8.10 system I used the p4_clockmod to enable cpu frequency
scaling. But on this 8.10 x86_64 system I get an error message:
"FATAL: Module p4_clockmod not found."
As far as i have seen, this module is not in one of the other synaptic
packages.
Is there anything else you need to know?

Re: [Bug 156512] Re: Video corrupt when resizing video player on dual display system.

2008-08-30 Thread Bart
I switched the rendering method to something else (x11? i'm not at that
system atm) which fixed it, and also play using xine now.
Using mplayer now simply kills the video player when i try to use in full
screen.
I'm running the latest release.

If you need anything else, let me know.

[Bug 349560] [NEW] Huawei e220 broadband modem doesn't work on Jaunty

2009-03-27 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu Jaunty alpa 6 x86, total up to date.
uname -a:
Linux readymobile 2.6.28-11-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP Mon Mar 23 16:40:23 UTC 2009

I have two Huawei modems and both are listed in lsusb: see attached lsusb-v
They do not show up in Jaunty, while they work well in Intrepid. (Just tested
on my desktop).

It looks like the modem is recognised and linked to /dev/ttyUSB0 and 1

[Bug 401074] [NEW] newest git version crashes x only flashes login screen

2009-07-18 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

I use the xorg-edgers repository and the latest update broke my X. When
my system boots, I see my login screen. But it disappears almost
immediately.

I'm talking about xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.7.99.902+git20090716.a1e6abb5-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty

i accidently installed libdrm-radeon1, but i removed that one after X
crashed, i thought this was causing the problem, but after reoving the
radeon package and reinstalling libdrm-intel1 and xserver-xorg-video-
intel. X still failed to start. I was also unable to switch to another
terminal. I had to edit the kernel line in Grub to get to a root shell
and edit xorg.conf

I added
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Driver "intel"
Option "Tiling" "false"
Option "FramebufferCompression" "False"
EndSection
to my xorg.conf

and
nopat enable_mtrr_cleanup i915.modeset=1
to my menu.lst between 'generic' and 'root' to clear out some bugs with my
gma945

i got X back by specifieing "vesa" in the xorg.conf

[Bug 50505] installation fails when /var on seperate partition

2006-06-20 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a bug report at
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug and a
developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the
developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in
your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/installer/syslog,
/var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/ubiquity", line 130, in ?

This only occurs when I put /var on a different partition. If I don't give it
an own partition, everything works. But I read it's a good idea to have a
seperate partition for /var, so I would like it to work.

I have a new Dell portable computer, Inspiron 9400, dual processor.

[Bug 156512] Video corrupt when resizing video player on dual display system.

2007-10-23 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

I can play video fine when I have a small window, but trying to resize of
maximize the video corrupts the screen and slows the computer to a halt.
I have a dual wide-screen setup with a nvidia 6600gt video card. I am using the
restricted driver (recommended when I booted in the first time).

I can play video without trouble when in single screen mode (disabling one of
the screens)
When both screens are on, I can play video fine if I switch to metacity.

When it corrupts, I get purple in the player window, the screen goes blank a
couple times, and sometimes the monitors say there is an invalid resolution.
Generally I quit gdm before that point and log back in.

Any thoughts what might be wrong?
Thanks, Bart.

[Bug 108296] Re: missing /etc/postgresql/ after uninstall/reinstall

2007-09-24 Thread bart
Hi guys,

I had exactly the same problem and solved it by purging (instead of just
uninstalling or removing) the postgresql-8.2.

Now everything works fine: the /etc/postgresql has been created along
with the startup script.

I don't think the difference between remove and purge is obvious and
this should be addressed as a more general problem.

Reproducing it is extremely easy: I just try to watch a video (in this
case an AVI). I am using fglrx driver, installed with Envy, version
8.40.4. If you need any other info, just e-mail me.

[Bug 550173] [NEW] Live tv using PVR-500 unviewable

2010-03-28 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

I'm running MythBuntu 8.10 without a problem.
Upgrading to 9.04 or 9.10 causes my livetv to be very distorted and basically
unviewable.

Today I attempted a new 10.04 beta install to see if anything has
changed. My problem persists.

What I find strange is that when viewing my /dev/videox directly using VLC, I
can view the channel perfectly.
However, when I first try to view a channel with MythTV and then try to view it
using VLC, I get identical problems on the channel.

On the other input on the same card, if I haven't used/tried that in mythtv
yet, I can use VLC again without a problem.
The errors VLC gives (when first viewing the channel with mythtv and then VLC):

I would think this is not driver or kernel related, since playing TV
directly from VLC works. Once I try mythtv, I can't play TV (decently)
using any program from that point, untill a system reboot.

[Bug 550173] Re: Live tv using PVR-500 unviewable

2010-04-29 Thread Bart
My problems have been resolved by changing the image size in the
recording profiles.

Strangly, the height was set correctly to 576 but the width was set to
480. Setting it to 768 as indicated in the field help information at the
bottom of the screen, was all that was needed to fix my problem.

Can't mythtv / mythbuntu set these things to correct default values? It
knows that i'm using PAL (configured during setup) and it knows my
encoder card.

[Bug 510938] [NEW] 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.

2010-01-21 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Probably this question is more related to samba functionality than to
Nautilus.

Seems that nautilus doesn't support copying files larger than 2 Gig from
a samba share. I had to manually mount the share with lfs option to
succesfully copy a file with a size of aprox. 4 Gig.

The following error occurs when 2 Gig is copied:
Error while copying "xxx".
There was an error copying the file into xxx/xxx.
Show more details: Invalid argument.

[Bug 427949] Re: Lotus Notes on Karmic Does not Load Properly Unfinished Page Drawing

2009-09-21 Thread Bart
For me, this worked fine!
With 1 note: in KDE the popups are behing the splash screen, which blocks the
notes.
In gnome, this was ok, and then it worked.

Tnx

[Bug 550173] Re: Live tv using PVR-500 unviewable

2010-04-05 Thread Bart
I've replaced the firmware files with those from the ivtvdriver.org
site. No change detected (I think the firmware files are identical)

Did a reinstall of the system to make sure I've got clean configs, setup
the card again.

The same problem:
Viewing /dev/video0 with VLC produces a good image, playing TV with mythtv is
choppy and unwatchable. After trying to play with mythtv, VLC can't play the
stream either (same choppyness as in MythTV).

Does mythtv apply some special (buffering?) settings before starting tv
playback?

[Bug 510938] Re: 2 Gig limit copying file from samba share.

2010-05-14 Thread Bart
Thanks for doing all the research. I'm sorry for reporting a bug which
in the end seems to be just an configuration isue. However it confuses
me that manually mounting the share with lfs option also solves the
problem. It was thereby that I was assuming the problem was a bug in
gvfs.

[Bug 522400] [NEW] /etc/init.d startup scripts are not run at boot

2010-02-15 Thread Bart
Public bug reported:

I am not sure when, but i assume some of the updates broke the boot process and
none of the services start during the boot. In addition none of the virttual
console terminal start at the boot. The only way to run the system is to login
through the gdm, Then anything that is started by gnome works and to fix the
services that did not start during the boottime i must start them manually.
I have no idea where to start. I am not sure at which point the boot process
brakes.

[Bug 411574] Re: [karmic] No sound on Intel 82801H HD Audio

2009-09-10 Thread Bart
I think I can confirm this bug. Since I'm not an expert I'm not 100% sure.
lspci give's me:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition
Audio Controller (rev 01)

I get no sound at all. If I remove pulseaudio, everything is working fine.
I tried to find my model in:
/usr/share/doc/alsa-base/driver/HD-Audio-Models.txt
But I don't know how to find the right one.
Is there more information needed?

[Bug 1845801] Re: [nvidia] Automatic login fails and then all subsequent logins fail. Killing gnome-session-binary fixes it, or just not using automatic login.

2019-12-22 Thread Bart
Problem as described by topic starter also appeared on two computers of mine:
1) An old laptop (Core2Duo and Nvidia GTX260M), that uses Ubuntu from 2015
onwards.
2) A newer desktop (Corei5, Intel graphics card), which started with Ubuntu
19.04. Performed the release upgrade one week after the laptop.
What these two computers have in common, and in common with the other poster:
automatic login.
My fix followed the steps of https://askubuntu.com/a/346795 (resume after
failed release upgrade):
$ sudo apt-get install -f
$ sudo dpkg --configure -a
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
$ reboot

It's an error that probably scares new users, so idd, I think it should
receive high priority.

[Bug 1869344] Re: gnome-shell right mouse click brings minimized windows to foreground

2020-03-27 Thread bart
Slightly different ba might have the same origin:

If I right-klick in a Firefox window, windows from other workspaces are
shown in the background of the current workspace.

These windows are "inactive" except for the titlebar

[Bug 1760023] Re: Edit Screenshot Feature Broken

2018-04-10 Thread bart
Installing libgoo-canvas-perl and its dependencies from
https://reposcope.com solved the problem for me.

It would be great to have this back in 18.04. Shutter with the edit
function is a briliant application.

[Bug 1834583] Re: [eoan][regression] GNOME Shell hangs when closing a Java dialog; hung in (varying functions under) meta_stack_get_default_focus_window() from meta_window_x11_focus()

Hi I can confirm this for Jetbrain's phpstorm and for jedit.
It is a major issue if these happen to be important tools in the office.
