I am having the exact same problem, on Gutsy. Whenever I try to view any
video content, the X server crashes. Tried it with Xine and mplayer,
both the same result. The Xorg.0.log file ends with this:

Backtrace:

9: /usr/bin/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0x1e1) [0x8076241]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

Reproducing it is extremely easy: I just try to watch a video (in this
case an AVI). I am using fglrx driver, installed with Envy, version
8.40.4. If you need any other info, just e-mail me.
