Version:(using KDE 4.1.2)

To reproduce:
Launch kuser. Now create some users. For example, I created 4 users test1 to
test 4.
Now select all the 4 users by Ctrl+Clicking on each.
Now press the Delete user button. The delete operation will be performed on
only one of the users, which is test4 in my case. After test4 is removed, we
are left with test1 to test3 users left back and selected. We can click on
Delete again to remove test3 and so on.

This bothers me as I often have to set up many users or remove a chunk
of them. Often when the number of users are removed serially, ie, in my
case, I often remove user1 to user80 together, which becomes tiring due
to this bug.

[Bug 2084854] Re: last and lastb missing in 24.10

2025-02-07 Thread Andrew Bower
The bad news is that even utmpdump is dumped from the next release. In
mitigation, there will be fewer things writing to the utmp-formatted
logs and lastb would probably be more or less useless for that reason
now, but that still leaves no solution for interrogating old logs.

[Bug 2085634] Re: Middle mouse click paste is broken across different applications in Ubuntu 24.04

2025-02-07 Thread Alex Hung
I tried pre-released updates (software & updates -> Developer options ->
pre-released updates) on a new installation and this issue seems to be
fixed.

It shouldn't be long when it is available to everybody \o/.

[Bug 2097655] [NEW] libgstreamer1.0-dev is marked Multi-Arch: same but has a file conflict

2025-02-07 Thread Francois Gouget
Public bug reported:

libgstreamer1.0-dev is marked Multi-Arch: same but the Gst-1.0.gir file
is causing a conflict.

To reproduce this bug, run the following command in Ubuntu 25.04 (e.g.
current ubuntu:devel container):

# apt-get install libgstreamer1.0-dev:i386 libgstreamer1.0-dev:amd64
[...]
Unpacking libgstreamer1.0-dev:amd64 (1.25.1-1) ...

 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-nevdEZ/98-libgstreamer1.0-dev_1.25.1-1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Notes:
* This prevents Wine developers from building both the 32-bit and 64-bit
versions of Wine with GStreamer support, thus limiting their ability to work on
32-bit Windows applications.
* This issue is new in Ubuntu 25.04 (i.e. it's not present in Ubuntu 24.10 or

[Bug 2097638] [NEW] libpcap0.8-dev is marked Multi-Arch: same but has a file conflict

2025-02-07 Thread Francois Gouget
Public bug reported:

file is causing a conflict.

To reproduce this bug, run the following command in Ubuntu 23.04:

 /var/cache/apt/archives/libpcap0.8-dev_1.10.5-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Notes:
* This prevents Wine developers from building both the 32-bit and 64-bit
versions of the wpcap dll on Ubuntu, thus limiting their ability to work on
32-bit Windows applications.
* The Debian libpcap0.8-dev 1.10.5-1 packages don't have this issue. So it
seems like a fix is at hand.

[Bug 2095536] Re: [MIR] ubuntu-x1e-settings

2025-02-07 Thread Tobias Heider
** Description changed:

  [Availability]
  Currently in universe

  [Rationale]
Very much like we did with the Lenovo Thinkpad X13s for 24.10 [1] I would
like to add support for some of the new Snapdragon X Elite laptops in
our coming release. Because arm64 is a bit special we need to ship a
settings package containing tweaks and configs that make the installer
  "just work".

This is based on the work I did for our Snapdragon Ubuntu concept image
  [2].

  [Security]
I don't expect any security impact. The package is mostly config files
and should only affect this specific hardware.

  [Quality assurance]
For now we will have to test manually. There are multiple developers who
have access to hardware so that should not get in the way.

  [UI standards]

  [Dependencies]

  [Standards compliance]

  [Maintenance/Owner]
  Owned by the Foundations team.

  [Background information]
The package provides 3 binary packages.

  - hwe-qcom-x1e-meta: This is picked up by "ubuntu-drivers --recommended" in
subiquity and pulls
- in ubuntu-x1e-settings
+   in ubuntu-x1e-settings
  - ubuntu-x1e-settings: A full set of configs needed to make a installation
work. This includes
- statically configured kernel command line parameters that would regress
other devices
+   statically configured kernel command line parameters that would regress
other devices
  - ubuntu-x1e-settings-nogrub: A safe subset of ubuntu-x1e-settings without
the kernel command line.
- On our live media we want those to be set at runtime depending on which
device we boot on to prevent
- regressions
+   On our live media we want those to be set at runtime depending on which
device we boot on to prevent
+   regressions
+
+ > please explain and give rationale for the "snap channels" in
+ > debian/ubuntu-x1e-settings.postinst, as this seems to be swapping out the
+ > whole stacks of GNOME/Mesa, which might lead to a different experience than
+ > stock Ubuntu.
+ >  => snap refresh --channel adreno/stable --no-wait gnome-42-2204
+ >  => snap refresh --channel beta/kisak --no-wait mesa-2404
+
+ Since this is pretty new hardware we are facing problems with the dependency
bundling model in snaps. Mesa in particular is problematic because it is
closely tied to the hardware and kernel.
+ The hardware this package enables is not supported in mesa prior to 24.10, so
the "default experience" would be that nothing works. We work around this by
switching the main mesa provider snaps to channels built against a working mesa
version.
+
+ Since 24.04 there is a dedicated mesa snap to handle those kinds of
+ situations, for 22.04 we have to hijack the gnome snap which also

[Bug 2017998] Re: krb5-multidev is marked Multi-Arch: same but has a file conflict

2025-02-07 Thread Francois Gouget
This bug is still present in Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS:

# apt-get install krb5-multidev:i386 krb5-multidev:amd64
[...]
Unpacking krb5-multidev:i386 (1.20.1-6ubuntu2.3) ...
dpkg: error processing archive
/tmp/apt-dpkg-install-i9XgC5/0361-krb5-multidev_1.20.1-6ubuntu2.3_i386.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite shared '/usr/bin/krb5-config.mit', which is different from
other instances of package krb5-multidev:i386
[...]

Notes:
* This prevents Wine developers from building both the 32-bit and 64-bit
versions of the wpcap dll on Ubuntu, thus limiting their ability to work on
32-bit Windows applications.
* The Debian krb5-multidev 1.21.3-4 packages don't have this issue. So it seems
like a fix is at hand.

With regards to the impact on Wine developers I got the dlls mixed up:
it is kerberos.dll which is impacted by this multiarch issue.

[Bug 1694161] Re: libvirt should register its dnsmasq with systemd-resolved, and set a suitable domain for lookups (e.g. 'libvirt.')

2025-02-07 Thread Andreas Hasenack
That sounds awesome, and would mean plucky has it:

 libvirt | 10.6.0-1ubuntu3.1| oracular-updates | source
 libvirt | 10.6.0-1ubuntu3.2| oracular-proposed | source
 libvirt | 10.10.0-4ubuntu2 | plucky| source
 libvirt | 11.0.0-2ubuntu1 | plucky-proposed | source

I gave it a quick try in plucky, and it seems to work, but is not
enabled by default:

$ virsh net-dumpxml lab

Note how the lab domain is used for virbr1:
$ resolvectl

 Protocols: -LLMNR -mDNS -DNSOverTLS DNSSEC=no/unsupported
  resolv.conf mode: stub

Link 4 (virbr0)
Current Scopes: none

Protocols: -DefaultRoute -LLMNR -mDNS -DNSOverTLS DNSSEC=no/unsupported
   DNS Servers: 192.168.100.1

I think this is enough to mark this bug as resolved for the devel series
(plucky at the moment).

[Bug 2097654] [NEW] libtheoraenc1 is marked Multi-Arch: same but has a file conflict

2025-02-07 Thread Francois Gouget
Public bug reported:

libtheoraenc1 is marked Multi-Arch: same but the changelog.Debian.gz
file is causing a conflict.

To reproduce this bug, run the following command in Ubuntu 25.04 (e.g.
current ubuntu:devel container):

# apt-get install libtheoraenc1:i386 libtheoraenc1:amd64
[...]
Unpacking libtheoraenc1:i386 (1.2.0~alpha1+dfsg-5) ...
dpkg: error processing archive

(--unpack):
 trying to overwrite shared '/usr/share/doc/libtheoraenc1/changelog.Debian.gz',
which is different from other instances of package libtheoraenc1:i386
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/apt-dpkg-install-XyKSck/29-libtheoraenc1_1.2.0~alpha1+dfsg-5_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Strangely the difference comes from the command to get the old changelogs:
libtheora*e*nc1 vs libtheora*d*ec1.

Notes:
* This breaks multiarch support in the GStreamer packages. In particular this
prevents Wine developers from building both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of
Wine, thus limiting their ability to work on 32-bit Windows applications.
* This issue is new in Ubuntu 25.04 (i.e. it's not present in Ubuntu 24.10 or
24.04.1 LTS).

I don't see a fix. The exact scenario happened to me just yesterday:

- AppImage told me to install fuse
- apt install fuse
- crash, purge reinstall needed for gdm3
- correct fuse (fuse3) is installed upon purge

we need gdm3 to actively prevent installing incorrect fuse version, OR
require entire ubuntu-desktop be uninstalled if user needs incompatible
fuse

please reopen
