The last lines in the log are: 12:11:18 DEBUG| [stdout] Test icebp [Ok] 12:11:18 DEBUG| [stdout] Test int 3 trap [Failed] 12:11:18 DEBUG| [stdout] selftests: breakpoint_test [PASS] 12:11:18 DEBUG| [stdout] /tmp/autopkgtest.zKFdZm/build.ham/linux-4.11.0/autotest/client/tmp/ubuntu_kernel_selftests/src/linux/tools/testing/selftests/breakpoints ... and on the console we see a lot of messages like: ** 35 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.683828] ACPI Error: No installed handler for fixed event - SleepButton (3), disabling (20170119/evevent-286) ** 33 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.686564] ACPI Error: Could not disable RealTimeClock events (20170119/evxfevnt-267) ** 25 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.688566] ACPI Error: No installed handler for fixed event - SleepButton (3), disabling (20170119/evevent-286) ** 35 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.692788] ACPI Error: No installed handler for fixed event - SleepButton (3), disabling (20170119/evevent-286) ** 29 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.695184] ACPI Error: No installed handler for fixed event - SleepButton (3), disabling (20170119/evevent-286) ** 34 printk messages dropped ** [ 3577.697955] ACPI Error: No installed handler for fixed event - PM_Timer (0), disabling (20170119/evevent-286) I've attached the full log. In the log file there is the invocation I used to generate the failing log. You should be able to try similar using either `qemu' locally. If that doesn't reproduce, try on Canonistack. If *that* doesn't reproduce, apw or I can run test builds for you if there's a PPA to test from. This tickles an unfortunate behaviour in the way we run autopkgtest. What happens is: the machine hangs, autopkgtest notices this has happened, it tries to clean up the testbed and can't get into it because it is hung. This is counted as a 'temporary failure', and so the job is requeued forever. As a result, I've blacklisted linux from the workers. Please reach out to us for manual runs, and then once it is confirmed to not loop in this way we'll remove the blacklist. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: bot-stop-nagging ** Attachment added: "linux.tar.xz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706283/+attachment/4920916/+files/linux.tar.xz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706283 Title: ADT tests fail since 4.11.0-11.16 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1706283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1706284] [NEW] sssd fails to Update PTR if any A record update fails.
Public bug reported: sssd in both xenial and yakkety fails to update the PTR record of the current host on an active directory controller if any update for an A/AAA record returns a non-fatal error, this results in missing (and/or) mismatched Reverse DNS. This has already been fixed in 1.5.1 (which is present in Zesty and above), as failure to update any of the A/AAA should not affect updating the PTR as well, as not all servers in a given AD cluster may accept an A/AAA record update, especially if it would result in no update being made (NOERROR). See the attached conversation about this issue here: https://pagure.io/SSSD/sssd/issue/3227 for further information. I'll attach a debdiff against the relevant releases shortly, however for now I've attached the original patch which was used to fix the bug in 1.15.1 ### SRU Justification ### [Impact] Currently users find that sssd will not update the reverse (PTR) records of a given host if an AD server returns non-fatal error for an A/AAA update. This causes strange issues to occur where we can end up with hosts with proper functioning forward records but no reverse. I propose we backport the fix from 1.15.1 to both Xenial and Yakkety to resolve the issue so PTR updates get processed (or at least attempted). The patch attached removes the error check that occurs should the return code of the A/AAA nsupdates be non zero, and instead allows the PTR update to occur before checking for errors. This is the same patch taken from the fix for 1.15.1 [Test Case] As per the original bug: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Setup 'nonsecure and secure' zones 2. Start sssd Actual results: A records will get updated but PTR records will fail as sssd does not try to update them. Expected results: Both A and PTR records get updated. [Regression Potential] As this patch is already present in a future release it has been fairly well tested already however back-porting the fix will result in sssd attempting PTR updates whether the A/AAA updates succeeds or not. As per the original bug report where a quick note was made about failed updates; If forward updates fail the result will be inconsistent DNS should the reverse succeed (reverse but no forward), however in that case the admin needs to look into with why the update failed, the code should at least try to record all updates (both A, AAA and PTR) and not just ignore the PTR because the forward update (may or may not have) failed. There is also the possibility that the patch may not resolve the problem completely however as this patch just moves the error handling before the PTR attempt I can see no reason not to backport the patch to the older version for Xenial/Yakkety. ** Affects: sssd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Keith Ward (keithward) Status: In Progress ** Tags: patch xenial yakkety ** Patch added: "Patch from Upstream" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706284/+attachment/4920917/+files/sssd_update-ptr.patch ** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: sssd (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Keith Ward (keithward) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706284 Title: sssd fails to Update PTR if any A record update fails. [Bug 1700783] Re: acpi-call 1.1.0-3 ADT test failure with linux 4.12.0-4.5
@christoph-grimmer The fix is only relevant _if_ you already want to use an upstream kernel and not the provided versions by the distribution. This might be the case if you (like me) use i.e. the Ukuu utility (http://www.teejeetech.in/p/ukuu-kernel-upgrade-utility.html) to run newer kernels than the one provided by the distribution i.e. to support very new hardware. In that case downloading http://ppa.launchpad.net/colin-king/acpi-call- lp1700783/ubuntu/pool/main/a/acpi-call/acpi-call- dkms_1.1.0-3ubuntu1_all.deb and installing it via gtk-debi does the trick. [Bug 1667750] Re: xhci_hcd: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13
Yes, it works (had been running it for a few days now), but needed to download a large file today and I noticed the speed dropped to +/- 100kbs, where, switching to Andrés kernel, it have me +/- 700kbs (tried twice, same results, nothing else changed). Like I said, I don't know if it's something to do with other stuff fixed in kernel 4.11 (compared to 4.4, since I'm on a fairly new Dell XPS 15 2017), but I found it remarkable the speed accelerated dramatically when switching to the 4.11 kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1667750 Title: xhci_hcd: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1667750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1700373] Re: intel-microcode is out of date, version 20170707 fixes errata on 6th and 7th generation platforms
Hi Dave, Thank you for going through this. I think it's OK if you want to keep the set of dat files available in sync with the set available in the development release. But then the changelog entry should make this clear. I expected the changelog entry to match the diff that I was reviewing. When users view the entry, they would then expect the entry to match what they are about to receive (be it source or binaries). For backports it's often easier to base the changelog on one from the version that's being backported and add one further entry explaining the backport. In this case my previous paragraph would still be accurate: the user would see all the changes landing in the stable release, and reviewers would also see a diff that corresponded to them. However we have agreed that this update will be a cherry-pick, not a backport, so this wouldn't apply anyway. > ...I thought about not including the debian changelog entry in the x upload, but I like to error on the side of more information, and this vv part of the changelog entry matches identically to zesty and artful. I agree with the sentiment. More information is fine. However inaccurate or misleading information is not. So by all means use the information in the changelog entry from Artful as a starting point, but you do need to remove or correct parts that no longer apply. Given that we aren't backporting the packaging from Artful, I don't think it makes sense to include lines like "source: remove unneeded intel-ucode/ directory". As far as I can find, this isn't happening at all to users, neither in Xenial nor Zesty, and isn't represented in the diff. I can't find this directory in any sources anywhere (just looking at Ubuntu). > If you deem it crucially important... It's hardly crucially important, but I do think it's reasonable to expect that the changelog is accurate against what is actually going on, I think it's reasonable for users to expect this too, and I believe it's the SRU team's job to maintain this standard. Please correct as follows (or discuss further if you want to do something else): 1) Remove the comment about removing intel-ucode/, as I can't see that in the diff anywhere. 2) Fix or replace "remove superseded upstream data file" so what whatever you do say matches against what I see in each proposed diff (you can say something different for Xenial and Zesty if needed of course). If you're removing dats I think we do need to mention it. Saying something like "source: remove firmware dat files as needed to bring the shipped set in sync with those shipped in Artful" would be fine. 3) In general, make sure that the changelogs accurately describe the diffs that I will review. [Bug 1684039] Re: iBFT network configuration does not correctly populate PROTO=dhcp in /run/net-*.conf which breaks cloud-init
Test case updated ** Description changed: [Impact] When booting with iBFT, the network configuration is performed by open-iscsi as part of initramfs.local-top instead of by klibc-ipconfig. This includes populating /run/net-*.conf which is consumed among other things, by cloud-init. Currently no attempt to determine PROTO is made, and PROTO=none is hard coded into the file which cloud-init does not recognise and crashes out. Further to this, open-iscsi in the current version (xenial through zesty) does not correctly parse the iBFT origin into the boot protocol in "iscsistart -f" and always returns "STATIC". This is fixed upstream. [Test Case] + (1) Setup MAAS 2 environment. Install 16.04 LTS images from the "Daily" + Stream. Check settings and ensure Commissioning kernel is 16.04 LTS and + "xenial (ga-16.04)" + + (2) Enroll a libvirt virtual machine as a machine within the MAAS + including a SINGLE local disk + + (3) Install the 'ipxe' package on your libvirt machine + + (4) Commission and test and ensure it's otherwise working + + (5) You need to build a new open-iscsi package for xenial with the fix, + and then rebuild an initrd for 4.4.0-87-generic with the fix integrated. + An easy way to do that is to deploy the machine, install the updated + (fixed) package and then copy the initrd from + /boot/initrd.img-4.4.0-87-generic to the MAAS server. But you could + also build it on any other xenial machine with that kernel installed. + + (6) Edit the virtual machine config using virt-manager and under the "Boot Options" enable direct kernel boot, set kernel path to /usr/lib/ipxe/ipxe.lkrn and the kernel args to (all one line): + ifconf -c dhcp && sanhook --drive 0x81 iscsi:100.64.0.253::3260:1:iqn.2004-05.com.ubuntu:maas:ephemeral-ubuntu-amd64-ga-16.04-xenial-daily ; autoboot + + Change 100.64.0.253 to the IP of your MAAS instance on the network + that it uses to PXE boot. + + (7) Try to commission the machine again, you should see it fail if you + watch the console (it will also show failed in MAAS) and you'll briefly + see a message about PROTO=none + + (8) Update the initrd on the MAAS server: + cd /var/lib/maas/boot-resources/current/ubuntu/amd64/ga-16.04/xenial/daily/ + mv boot-initrd boot-initrd.orig + cp (PATHMAYBEDIFFERENT)/boot/initrd.img-4.4.0-87-generic boot-initrd + + (9) Try to commission the machine again, it should now succeed with the + patched initrd. A deployment will also work but a commission is + sufficient enough to test. + + Notes: + - MAAS may do an image sync and overwrite your updated initrd. So watch out for that. boot-resources/current is also a symlink so you may need to cd out and back in + + Advantage of using MAAS to do this is that it also tests that iSCSI boot + is otherwise working and not broken by this change, as the commission + and deploy etc use iSCSI root. There is also a test for this in + debian/tests (tgt-boot-test) [Regression Potential] We believe the regression risk is "low" and don't envision any. The package (including the fixes) has been intensively tested pre-SRU. If regression is found, it'll be clearly less critical than this actual bug where cloud-init breaks because of this actual missing piece of code and It'll most likely only affect system booting with iBFT. Additionally, the patches has been proven to work Upstream and Debian for a couple of years now. [Other Info] * This SRU includes the following upstream/debian fixes : # Debian: 0347300 initramfs: populate PROTO= entry in /run/net-*.conf from iBFT # Upstream - 08_Parse-origin-value-from-iBFT.patch --> https://github.com/open-iscsi/open-iscsi/commit/78e24f50ab754f35f4aa208ade7c9fd794d82036#diff-c53311d3f6725aa63577b7bf4b582c3d - 09_Represent-DHCP-origin-as-an-enum-not-a-string.patch --> https://github.com/open-iscsi/open- iscsi/commit/4959a89f421fdebc521f48003a79c2161e59d192#diff- c53311d3f6725aa63577b7bf4b582c3d - 10_iBFT-origin-is-an-enum-not-a-string.patch --> https://github.com /open-iscsi/open-iscsi/commit/3f15a2270a7efb1a6ee8ef555b01f3d8674818b9 #diff-3ba89d9a64dda0ffc3664bbc27b0fa27 [Original Description] When booting with iBFT, the network configuration is performed by open- iscsi as part of initramfs.local-top instead of by klibc-ipconfig. ** Description changed: [Impact] When booting with iBFT, the network configuration is performed by open-iscsi as part of initra

[Bug 1706298] [NEW] Amazon Prime Membership
Public bug reported: Amazon Prime has a number of benefits — free two-day shipping from the site, unlimited streaming of some music and video content, and access to Amazon's Kindle Owners' Lending Library. But the service isn't for everybody, especially if you don't take advantage of the free shipping often enough to justify Amazon Prime's $99-a-year price tag. Fortunately, you have several ways to end your time with Prime should the service fail to live up to your expectations, starting with a 30-day trial option to test-drive Amazon Prime before committing to the annual charge. But be forewarned: When you sign up for Prime's free trial, your account is set up to automatically charge your credit card for the full $99 when the trial period ends, and annually after that. If that charge catches you off guard, you still have the opportunity to cancel your membership. Here's how to do it. You can see how much longer you have in your Prime trial by going to your Amazon account page. To get there, sign in to your Amazon account; at the top right side of the page, you'll see a "hello" message with your name. Open the drop-down menu below that message and select My Account from the available options. From there, select Settings, and then Manage Prime Membership. On the left side of the page, you'll see how long you've been an Amazon Prime member, as well as the date you will be charged for your next year of Prime. If you have a bit of time before your trial ends or your membership renews, you can sign up for an email reminder three days before your renewal date. If, by some accident of shipping, Amazon fails to deliver a package on time during your Prime membership, you can complain. As one possible form of repayment, the company might extend your membership by a month. http://www.amazonprimenumber.us/ ** Affects: command-not-found (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1706298 Title: Amazon Prime Membership To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/command-not-found/+bug/1706298/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1691138] Re: Toolbar unresponsive in full screen mode
So, this is fixed in artful-proposed, I can backport a patch if you find the exact commit that fixes the issue. Unfortunately changes are too huge to cherry-pick a fix, unless the original author can tell us exactly where to look. Hopefully my ppa can help you and we can forget this issue in some months ** Changed in: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691138 Title: Toolbar unresponsive in full screen mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/virtualbox/+bug/1691138/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1667750] Re: xhci_hcd: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13
imperia, If it's ASM1142 from comment #25, then it's different to ASM1042A (which is used in TB16). Also, ftrace won't do much here - as you can see the patch writes magic values to registers, which only hardware vendor knows.
[Bug 1637779] Re: ext4 filesystem fails randomly with checksum error
First of all thank you very much for your quickly response. I am glad to say you we fixed that issue thanks to your post :) The problem was we formatted the disk (sb5) using some tool from newer Ubuntu version which put metadata_csum feature on it. And because using on Ubuntu 14.04 it had some trouble with it. We also realize that the warning message on every reboot was for the impossibility to perform a fsck due to incompatibility with metdata_csum feature. Summarizing, we did the following: 1 - Fix checksum errors using SystemRescue live CD and executing the e2fsck tool (1.43.3 which is fully compatible with metadata_csum. 2 - Once we were sure there were not any error, we proceed disabling metadata_csum, using "tune2fs -O ^metadata_csum /dev/sdb5" with the file system umounted (as you advised us). 3 - Once boot up, it made a fsck successfully and no more warnings about disck errors. Thank you very much! [Bug 1313430] Re: Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 when trying to connect to iPod
I can confirm that deleting the playcount file solves the problem. However, it seems to reappear so one would have to delete the file before every sync :-( Platform is Ubuntu 16.04, iPod touch. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313430 Title: Crashes on Ubuntu 14.04 when trying to connect to iPod To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libgpod/+bug/1313430/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1667750] Re: xhci_hcd: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13
My bad André, you're right. I was referring to the 4.11 kernel from #38, which is indeed also submitted by Kai-Heng. Do you have some specific iperf commands you want me to run, or is a simple server/client test (-s and -c) enough?
