[Bug 1651454] Re: [Lenovo Thinkpad T460p] Ultra Dock external displays not detected after suspend/resume cycle
I do confirm Donjan Rodic success. The only thing, the WiFi seems to work crappy with 4.9. I does not disconnect, but for a good couple of seconds nothing internet related loads or freezes in the case of ssh connections, but after those seconds everything works back. Didn't remember to have such problems with 4.4 kernels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1651454 Title: [Lenovo Thinkpad T460p] Ultra Dock external displays not detected after suspend/resume cycle To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1651454/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1651454] Re: [Lenovo Thinkpad T460p] Ultra Dock external displays not detected after suspend/resume cycle
Also the switch between the monitors does not work very well. I get something working by pressing frenetically the "switch screens" Fn button. And my options are not remembered (just external monitor when docked, just internal when undocked). My work around was to make two scripts: /usr/bin/xrandr -d :0.0 --verbose|grep " connected" ; /usr/bin/xrandr -d :0.0 --output DP2-2 --off --output eDP1 --auto and: /usr/bin/xrandr -d :0.0 --verbose|grep " connected" ; /usr/bin/xrandr -d :0.0 --output DP2-2 --auto --output eDP1 --off And bind these to some key combination. The problem is that sometimes my X11 session crashes, and that does not feel to fluffy. P.S. I do that printout intentionally. I takes time for the external monitor to be detected. It seemed that when I did that printout it made the external monitor be detected quicker.

[Bug 1653217] [NEW] stop job timeout loops forever
Public bug reported: On my Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS with the most recent software updates I regularly run into a situation where the reboot of the machine will hang with a message A stop job is running for ... (1min 23s / 1min 30s) which is already annoying by itself see e.g. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1457400 what is worse is that after 90 secs the message changes to A stop job is running for ... (1min 31s / 3min 0s) and so on which effectively means the machine will not reboot since this seems to go on for ever (I tried at least for 15 minutes ...) The reason for the stop job behavior seems to be a cifs mount from the machine to one of it's virtual machine. The shutdown sequence seems to be that the virtual machines are shutdown first than the try to unmount the CIFS share will obviously fail (which in fact would not be any big deal at all). First I'll now try to workaround this bug but this bug indeed has horrible consequences: - the machine will not properly reboot by itself any more needing human intervention - since the console is not accessible a hard reset is needed - the hard reset will cause a file system check since the cifs mounts are unmounted before the physical drives so the file systems on the physical drives are not shut down properl.y - on my machine there are several multi-terrabyte drives where the filesystem checks will take approx an hour - so each reboot at this time might take at least an hour and an ugly procedure - thats not what I expect from an OS in this century ... ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653217 Title: stop job timeout loops forever To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1653217/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

>/var/lib/dpkg/info/postinst on if installing you need to have dpkg --configure instead of dpkg configure That resolves the issue? Sounds like a good starting point for a patch :) > Seems like a minor typo and could maybe need to be upstreamed from debian? Possibly, note that this package doesn't seem to have made it into Debian (note the 0ubuntu in the version number which means no Debian version). See also bug 1408071 and the corresponding Debian bug for more on the back story there. Looks like there's been some ongoing work to add it to Debian, and along the way the package was accepted into Ubuntu. [Bug 1653012] Re: RTL8821AE doesn't work after some minutes.
Now I upgraded my motherboard bios to version 603 and th connection does not stop completely. I can still browse the web but when I upload a big file via FTP the connection stops intermittently. I upload the file with Filezilla and before of the Bios upgrade it used to stop intertmittently without giving any chance to browse the web with another program. [Bug 1653259] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.10 Full screen freeze appears to be a continuation of bug 1561795
Public bug reported: The system freezes on full screen e.g. when playing videos, viewing Power Point presentations but especially when xscreensaver activates. Music still plays in the background (where applicable), the mouse cursor moves but has no effect, cannot click anywhere. If I reboot via ctrl+alt+f1 the system reboots and continues to function normally until a full screen activity triggers the same response. The problem does not occur at every activation of full screen, but appears to be triggered consistently by xscreensaver. [Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner
I have been experiencing the identical problem on my new Dell XPS 15 touchscreen laptop running Ubuntu 16.04 fully patched. Two problems actually: (1) touchpad mouse pointer randomly jumps to the bottom left corner, which frustratingly can result in the trash application opening up, and at least having to reset the mouse pinter back to where you need it. (2) mouse pointer too often also jumps backwards several characters so you wind up typing in the middle of your sentence. Both of the above problems become frustrating enough that you want to throw the laptop across the room, LOL. It happened to me like 3-4 times just typing this. Windows is also on this computer and has no such issues. Ubuntu, this has really got to be fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574667 Title: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1574667/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1574667] Re: Mouse pointer occasionally jumps to the bottom-left corner
PS: I realized I needed to point out corrections to my previous post about my Dell XPS 15 which is running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, as follows: (1) touchpad mouse pointer randomly jumps to the bottom left corner, which frustratingly can result in the trash application opening up since one might be trying to click an application, and at least having to move the mouse pointer back to where you need it. (this is not related to touchscreen. this is touchpad issue) (2) text typing ... too often the position jumps backwards several characters so you wind up typing in the middle of your sentence, and sometimes jumps elsewhere in the text field. Just typing this, it jumped once or twice as I said.
[Bug 1596027] Re: No hardware acceleration for H264 Decoding in Pepper Flash Plugin
Flash with Chromium-based browsers is out of my knowledge, sorry. A quick Google search shows that apparently, at least a few years ago, Chromium/Chrome used to disable hardware acceleration for certain graphic cards. Knowing the limited capabilities of the AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6310 (an APU-integrated graphic card that equipped my dad's early 2010s mini-desktop computer), perhaps hardware acceleration is indeed disabled for this card. In which case, it might be forced, and perhaps the following (dated) links can still help: http://askubuntu.com/questions/325431/hardware-acceleration-of-chromes-flash-plugin http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/enable-hardware-acceleration-in-chrome.html You should also install a Mozilla-based browser (and the PPAPI/NPAPI wrapper browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash), enable hardware accelerated decoding (see comment 1), and see if you can reproduce this issue (no hardware accelerated H.264 in Flash videos). This would help find out whether it's the browser's fault or the plugin's fault (cause I'm not sure this bug should be filed against the plugin). ** Changed in: adobe-flashplugin (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - No hardware acceleration for H264 Decoding in Pepper Flash Plugin + No hardware acceleration for H264 decoding of Flash videos on Chromium with Pepper Flash plugin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1596027 Title: No hardware acceleration for H264 decoding of Flash videos on Chromium with Pepper Flash plugin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin/+bug/1596027/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1653264] [NEW] gnome-screensaver starts within a KDE session

If I kill the gnome-screensaver process it goes away for a while, but starts up again some time later. As a result, I have a screensaver running which doesn't respond to the KDE screensaver configuration. I discovered that some applications cause gnome-screensaver to start during a KDE session. Two examples are totem and neverball and I expect there are more. I suspect that these applications attempt to temporarily disable the screensaver in a way which causes gnome- screensaver to start. For example: neil@eagle:~$ pidof gnome-screensaver neil@eagle:~$ totem & [1] 8776 neil@eagle:~$ Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "overlay-scrollbar" neil@eagle:~$ pidof gnome-screensaver 8787 neil@eagle:~$ I think gnome-screensaver should not become active due to an application attempting to suspend/resume screensaver activity, even if it is using a gnome-screensaver specific interface. I think I'll try to download the virtualbox-ext-pack for the (quite old, I must say...) 5.0.24 version that is in the Ubuntu repositories and then open the package with VirtualBox. I just hope that they still have these very old version available in their site... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620483 Title: package virtualbox-ext-pack 5.0.24-0ubuntu1.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox-ext-pack/+bug/1620483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

** Description changed: After upgrading from stock Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 my laptop consistently freezes up and is unresponsive to keyboard or mouse. The only way is to do a hard shutdown. I'm usually in a browser when this happens, and often watching a video or two. It seems to happen more often in Google Chrome than Firefox, but it happens with both. It has happened at least once with no videos loaded. I haven’t observed it freeze / hang when I’m not in a browser, but that's mainly what i use my laptop for, so that's where most of my time is spent. Andrew (keen101): 1) In order to better confirm applicability, could you please undo your WORKAROUND, and test the kernel parameter: intel_idle.max_cstate=1 what is most helpful is you personally testing this (not relying on someone else, somewhere else, with some other/similar hardware). 2) If the above does indeed provide a WORKAROUND, as per Len Brown (upstream) he needs you to test a debug patch, and then use a script that increases the probability of invoking the bug: 1) Debug patch: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=248751 2) Script: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=248841 Could you please temporarily remove your WORKAROUND, and use this patch to provide the requested information? ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575467 Title: [Dell Inspiron 3451] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 1297 at /build/linux-lts- utopic-vy2yyy/linux-lts- utopic-3.16.0/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:1743 vlv_wait_port_ready+0x126/0x170 [i915]() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1575467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1620483] Re: package virtualbox-ext-pack 5.0.24-0ubuntu1.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Yes this is the correct solution for now. Go to Oracle's site, navigate to Old Builds and then select the virtualbox-ext-pack, version 5.0.24, it's the same file for all Architectures, download it then open it with VirtualBox, using the context menu and then VirtualBox will happily download it and install it. I think it would be advisable to return the ownership of /usr/share to root, because of keeping the system safe. If you have taken ownership of /usr/share/sounds because of playing the Login sound or System sounds you'll have to take ownership of that folder only again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1620483 Title: package virtualbox-ext-pack 5.0.24-0ubuntu1.16.04.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox-ext-pack/+bug/1620483/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
