[Bug 1399064] Re: bridges cannot have a mtu > 1500 by themselves

2015-07-12 Thread Thiago Martins
Also affects Linux 3.19 on Ubuntu Trusty (linux-generic-lts-vivid).

It seems that the only way to create a bridge with MTU=9000 is by
creating it on top of a dummy interface, with mtu 9000 already
configured... Very annoying...

[Bug 1471459] Re: First run of nano creates a directory in $HOME, if run as sudo will be root owned

2015-07-12 Thread Benno Schulenberg
It turns out that Ubuntu carries a patch for sudo that Debian doesn't: see
keep_home_by_default.patch [1].
See also the changelog [2], somewhere in item 72. So I think one should ask
the Ubuntu maintainer of sudo what the motivation for this patch is. And if
there is no strong reason for it, ask him to drop it. That would solve this
issue.

[Bug 1473706] [NEW] Installing Kubuntu to a USB drive hides main drive, makes it inaccessible

2015-07-12 Thread g
Public bug reported:

If I install Kubuntu versions 13 & 14 to an external drive, selecting it
for installation of Grub (eg sdc), it causes the main drive to become
inaccessible. To Device Notifier the main drive is reported as if it
were the external drive - a different label but exactly the same size.
Device Notifier is unable to open the main drive. This caused a complete
loss of my Windows drive, leading to days of Photoreccing - the only
program able to find files on that partition.

The second time:
After a series of updates -> black screen events, one of which left me without
even network access, I tried again installing to an external, again selecting
the external for Grub, but with Kub on the main drive. The main again became
invisible to the installer. however, After much stuffing around:
plugging/unplugging the external (I was booted on a live usb), trying to access
with parted, the main drive again became visible.

I think the reasons for wanting an independent install of an OS are
pretty obvious: the main fails but you're able to immediately keep
working. Reason to have the boot independant are also obvious: there's
no reason to have a selection for something that's only for emergencies
& spends most of it's time in a drawer. Having your hard drive wiped
shouldn't be the way you find out that this is a Bad Idea.

regarding the black screens, it now seems there are plenty of reasons
for it happening. After one of mine ( I think I've had five) nouveau
read/write errors scrolled down my screen for ages. Isn't it possible to
have some self checking mechanism, rather than suffering this insame
waste of time? most of the fixes involve typing a dozen letters, eg:
plasma-desktop.

Also, I've seen plenty of bad articles on backing up, and I can't find a
decent backup program. C'mon, I'm freakin out here!

Hi,

I'm using xfdesktop-4.12.2 on gentoo, and some (not all) desktop icons
positions are regularly reseted.
I rebuilt xfdesktop-4.12.2 with the patch from comment #62 and the
--enable-debug=full configure flag.

Attached file is my ~/.xsession-errors file captured after a session
start when desktop icons positions were completly messed up.

At the end you can notice :

> position didn't exist or isn't free, got (1,0) instead
for each icon which was not in its normal position.

[Bug 1473683] Re: Sync gnome-maps 3.16.2-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2015-07-12 Thread Daniel Holbach
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-maps - 3.16.2-1
Sponsored for Jackson Doak (noskcaj)

---
gnome-maps (3.16.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Michael Biebl ]
  * New upstream release.
  * Update debian/copyright to make it compliant with version 1.0 of the spec.
  * Exclude the package private libgnome-maps.so library from dh_makeshlibs
and remove the unnecessary .a and .la files.
  * Enable the gir dh addon since gnome-maps builds a private typelib now.
  * Update Depends:
- Bump gjs to (>= 1.43.3)
- Bump gir1.2-geocodeglib-1.0 to (>= 3.15.2)
- Add gir1.2-gfbgraph-0.2
  * Add Build-Depends on gjs so the correct path of the gjs interpreter binary
is embedded into /usr/bin/gnome-maps.

  [ Jackson Doak ]
  * Update Build-depends:
- Bump libgjs-dev to (>= 1.43.3)
- Bump libglib2.0-dev to (>= 2.39.3)
- Add libgtk-3-dev (>= 3.15.9)
- Add geoclue-2.0 (>= 0.12.99)

- Add libfolks-dev (>= 0.10.0)
- Add libgeocode-glib-dev (>= 3.15.2)
- Add libchamplain-0.12-dev (>= 0.12.9)
- Add libgirepository1.0-dev and gobject-introspection (>= 0.6.3)
- Add intltool (>= 0.40)
  * debian/patches/schema_translation.patch:
- Fix build failure with intltool translation of gsettings schema
  when using glib2.0 >= 2.45

[Bug 537947] Re: Location of indicators should be user configurable

2015-07-12 Thread Jean Jordaan
I'm on 15.04, I've been trying to set order via the `ordering-
override.keyfile` as described at http://askubuntu.com/questions/26114
/is-it-possible-to-change-the-order-of-icons-in-the-indicator-applet ,
but no luck so far.

In my case, I'm using a numerical indicator that changes often. As
numbers jump from e.g. "5" to "200", all the indicators to the left jump
around. So this indicator needs to be leftmost.

[Bug 1473718] [NEW] Hooks not working (not executed)

2015-07-12 Thread Fantu
Public bug reported:

I prepared a testing environment already know as working in Trusty including
some needed hooks but hook are not executed.
Doing the same in sid all are correctly working.
Today I tested 0.215+nmu4ubuntu1 recently uploaded in wily and fix the problem.

I think that probably is good backport it to Trusty and other version as I
think hook correctly working is important (update contain also other fixes)
I already test it backporting in Trusty with my ppa, no regression found for
now:

[Bug 1448419] Re: Computer goes to sleep mode after a few minutes

2015-07-12 Thread Romain
Further troubleshooting have linked this issue with systemd-logind
reporting an incorrect "LID close" signal and thereafter suspending the
computer; the message was indeed a red herring.

I will open a bug report on the specific package, this one is good to
close.

[Bug 1473721] [NEW] Computer going to sleep mode after a few seconds

2015-07-12 Thread Romain
Public bug reported:

After migrating to 15.04, the computer will go to sleep after a few
seconds.

Investigations seems to link this behaviour with an incorrect LID signal
processed by systemd.
Changing the systemd-logind service configuration to ignore the
"HandleLidSwitch" event works around this issue.

Happy to investigate this further with appropriate steps to perform :)

Steps to repro:
1. Log in to session
2. Wait around 10 seconds

Actual:
The computer goes to sleep mode

Expected:
The computer remains on

Attached journald export of a repro. Please note the systemd-logind
request for suspending.

[Bug 1473724] [NEW] MIDI Keyboard Input do not works in Musescore 2 and Ubuntu 14.4

2015-07-12 Thread marco ambrosini
Public bug reported:

My system: Ubuntu 14.4
Musescore 2.0.0
Keyboard: MIDISTART 2
After upgrade to 2.0: Musescore are not more listed in aconnectgui and MIDI
keyboard input is not working anymore..
Any ideas how to work out this problem?
Thank you in advance,
Marco
p.s.: removing 2.0 and installing 1.3 solve the problem, MIDI is working
without problems with the old version of Musescore. My solution at the moment
ist to work with 1.3 in Ubuntu and to use 2.0.1 with Wine.

[Bug 1473727] [NEW] No DNS servers after netboot

2015-07-12 Thread Phil Lello
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 / resolvconf 1.69ubuntu1.1

When netbooting a xen VM, I see the following output:

 address: 192.168.1.180broadcast: 192.168.1.255netmask:
255.255.255.0

 gateway: 192.168.1.1  dns0 : 192.168.1.1  dns1   : 0.0.0.0

So I know DHCP is working.

However, resolv.conf doesn't get updated - the interface is set to
manual as DHCP was handled at the initrd level.

Please let me know how I can help get this fixed.

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2015-07-12 Thread Bruce Pieterse
I took some time to test out Matthews idea about the transparent
stipple. I have attached some screen shots which show the stipple in
different states:

1. The original
2. Transparent
3. Original with custom Adwaita CSS
4. Transparent with custom Adwaita CSS
5. Transparent with custom Adwaita CSS and 90% transparency drawn by Cairo
(line 178 of catview.py). Default is 50%.

When testing the transparent stipple with Adwaita, the text becomes more
illegible.

USC has support to load custom css based off the gtk-theme-name, which
you can see in line 55 of utils.py. You can easily test the loading of
the theme by opening USC and then changing it to something like
highcontrast which has its on css file and this will change in real
time. So if you use Numix you can provide a softwarecenter.numix.css.

>From what I can see for a workaround to use GTK theme colors, simply
move softwarecenter.css out the way (softwarecenter.css.bak). The code
currently looks for a softwarecenter..css if that does not
exist, it loads up the softwarecenter.css. If that does not exist as
well it uses the styling from the GTK theme.

Alternatively whip up your own CSS file for your favourite theme, or ask
the author to create one for USC if you want USC to match the theme.

I hope that helps a bits. I understand that this approach is for
Adwaita, but no one has provided the theme name they use when they filed
or commented on this bug report. So my next question is, what theme(s)
are you using?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Could you give us some more details on how this bug is triggered, does
it happen immediately when attempting to run the game?

Also I wonder which version of freeorion and Ubuntu you are running, so that
others can attempt to recreate the problem with the same version. Please
execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging
information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1473709
When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and
the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality
at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1473680] Re: Please update Ninja from Debian

2015-07-12 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Thanks for reporting this issue.

>It has not migrated to Ubuntu proper for some reason, probably because
uploads newer than 1.3.4 are NMUs.

It's because the Ubuntu package contains some Ubuntu-specific patches.
Normally packages are synced straight from Debian, but if they have been
patched, someone will need to manually merge them in Ubuntu (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Merging for more information).
You can tell by the version number "1.3.4-1.1ubuntu1" which contains the
ubuntu-suffix at the end that it has some Ubuntu-specific patches.

Looks like only a small patch on the Ubuntu-side though, so I might try
merging this.

It seems like a kernel thing. brk is returning bad addresses. Below,

[Bug 1307093] Re: VirtualBox saved VM resume causes SEGFAULT in i965_dri.so

2015-07-12 Thread Jon
Possible dup bug on VirtualBox: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/11938

I believe I have fixed this by updating the BIOS on my Dell XPS 13
ultrabook - machines using 3D acceleration now can be resumed without
crashing, and several machines can be run in parallel. I'll update here
if I experience any problems, but for now this seems to have fixed it
for me.

Thus the problem is not VB but the underlying graphics system?

[Bug 1473680] Re: Please update Ninja from Debian

2015-07-12 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I've now created a branch where I've merged in the latest changes from
Debian with the Ubuntu ones.

Attached is the output of `bzr diff -r tag:1.5.1-0.1` from my suggested
branch, since I noticed I couldn't attach files in the merge proposal. I
have to admit I don't understand why several files are marked as renamed
when the names haven't actually changed. Please let med know if this is
unexpected and due to my merge somehow.

[Bug 1267680] Re: package gdb-arm-none-eabi (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/man/man1/gdb.1.gz', which is also in package gdb 7.6.50.20131218-0ubuntu1

2015-07-12 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
I looked a bit into this issue, and the good news is that I cannot
reproduce this error with version 6 on Ubuntu 14.10. (As a side note,
I'm not quite sure why the version number is a single digit,
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdb-arm-none-eabi, presumably the
prefix is added by whatever gdb version is used?)

Looking at the list of files installed, we can see that man1/gdb.1.gz is indeed
no longer installed:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/amd64/gdb-arm-none-eabi/filelist
http://packages.ubuntu.com/utopic/amd64/gdb-arm-none-eabi/filelist

Since the issue is fixed in a newer release, there will be a patch which can
take care of it. It probably be feasible to get the fix for this from the
version in 14.10 and add it to/release it for 14.04 as well as an SRU (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for details.). Looking at the
changes for this package at
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/gdb-arm-none-eabi.git/log/, I have
to admit I don't know whether
"Remove empty manuals and fix installman target for arm-none-eabi-run" would be
suffecient, or if
"Workaround for upstream manpages stripped" needs to be included as well. These
are the only two changes which mention manpages, and the rest appear unrelated,
but for a developer preparing an SRU it would be nice to know whether only one
or both are needed. Does someone know? :)

[Bug 1473742] [NEW] Can't resume from suspend with initrd.img-3.19.0-23-generic on Dell Inspiron 1525

2015-07-12 Thread Páll Haraldsson
Public bug reported:

[Note I ran ubuntu-bug in the newest kernel I have, that works. I'll
just file again if it needs to be the failing one..]

Current initrd.img-3.19.0-23-generic, and older if I recall, also failed
in the same way (had to delete old kernels to make space..):

I can suspend and hear the fan go out and lights change, when going out
of suspend at least something is working as the fan comes on but the
screen is black.

[I've updated lightdm recently and other things, that I thought might be
the reason, but older initrd.img-3.19.0-15-generic and the one I'm
running now, initrd.img-3.19.0-20-lowlatency, still work.]

[Probably unrelated..: Recently (I guess in older kernels..) I've had suspend
and resume work, but do not get WiFi after resume and then have to close the
lid and after a second resume WiFi works..]

[Bug 1473744] [NEW] stuck at splash screen after installing nvidia 346.46 proprietary driver

2015-07-12 Thread Tunç
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am constantly stuck at splash screen as soon as I install the Nvidia's
346.46 binary driver. I install the driver without problem, I logout and
login to make sure the driver is working and I can see that the computer
is using the 346.46 driver from the Nvidia x server settings. But as
soon as I turn the computer off and on, I am stuck at splash screen. I
can't open the terminal via ctrl+alt+f1 as well since the getting stuck
happens in 1-2 seconds. I was once able to see the terminal hence the
problem and it was getting stuck after "Resolver State [OK]". Whenever
this happens the only option I can do is a clean ubuntu install
otherwise I cant use the computer.

My computer is a lenovo z510 laptop with i7 processor and gt740m
graphics card.

[Bug 1473745] [NEW] `signal: segmentation fault` when launch emulator

2015-07-12 Thread Yuriy Syrovetskiy
Public bug reported:

I created an armhf Kit with Ubuntu SDK first launch wizard.
I created an i386 Click Target later in settings.

(What is the difference between a Kit and a Click Target?)

I created an armhf and an i386 emulators in Devices view.

Now I cannot run an emulator. When I click the green triangle button,
nothing happens. Log window doesn't show anything. If I run `ubuntu-sdk`
from terminal I can see only one line `signal: segmentation fault`.

[Bug 1325450] Re: Cannot rezise root lvm - Logical volume is not mounted but is in use

2015-07-12 Thread Paul Cager
This seems to be because system-config-lvm expects readlink to be
/usr/bin/readlink, but it is (now) /bin/readlink. As a temporary bodge I
have added a link from /usr/bin/readlink to /bin/readlink which allows
system-config-lvm to work correctly.
