[Ubuntu-BD] Reinstall Ubuntu 10.04
I have done enough wrong with my computer. I don't know what to do. I thing you all can help me. I have dual operating system, Ubuntu 10.04 and Kubuntu 10.04. Somehow I have formatted both the drive. And now I want to re-install only Ubuntu 10.04 as single operating system. I have the customized dvd of Ubuntu 10.04 of bontu mintu adda. Actually I have no operating system now. And I am using live boot system. When I enter installer it boot directly. And when I enter hd-boot the first hard disk, it shows error: unknown file system grub rescue> I really don't know what to do. OK, i have faced this problem myself before.. and i found a way to recover grub2. (i think thats the issue here) *Step 1* > Boot to live session from your ubuntu livecd *[EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE HERE]* Go to http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/lucid/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso and download the ubuntu lucid lynx minimal cd image. (for 32bit i386) if you have some other kind of pc, go here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD and choose the right image for your machine. *Step two* > Go to *Applications > Ubuntu Software Center. *Search for *Unetbootin *and install it. (usb-creator does not work with ubuntu-minimal) *Step thre**e* > Open Unetbootin from *Applications > System Tools *and then from the user interface,* select ISO image* and from the directory choose previously downloaded ubuntu-minimal iso* (mini.iso)*. Select your usb thumb drive and make it bootable. *Step four > Restart and boot from the USB drive. A basic boot menu like this *http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/images/minimallucid02.png will appear. Choose *Advanced Options > Command Line Expert install* * * A window with a lot of installation steps will appear. First select and follow *Configure Your Network Hardware*. Then select *Network Setup* to setup your internet. *"Configure network with DHCP?" >> YES*. Ignore all the other steps and select* Install Grub Bootloader. *It will ask you to install grub2 instead of grub legacy, choose yes. then it'll ask your permission to install grub bootloader to the master boot record, again choose yes. Well If you want to: - install ubuntu FRESHLY - and FORMAT your whole hard drive - and keep ONLY ubuntu in your pc then: - BACKUP ALL YOUR DATA in other disc/usb drives - FOLLOW this < http://tinyurl.com/38s2yzm > instruction. [Ubuntu-BD] Removing Wine
I installed Wine using Terminal and removed it later. But I still see Wine in my application menu and in the right click popup. The ubuntu DVD you've got from Bontu-mintur adda is not installable. You need to find another installer CD/DVD. Or if you have the Mint CD from the adda, you can install that. Right click pop up menu will still have it.
