It's possible to compile Mutt with or without support for colours, for example if I do 'mutt -v', the options it reports are: Compile options: -DOMAIN -DEBUG -HOMESPOOL +USE_SETGID +USE_DOTLOCK +USE_FCNTL -USE_FLOCK -USE_IMAP -USE_GSS -USE_SSL -USE_POP +HAVE_REGCOMP -USE_GNU_REGEX +HAVE_COLOR +HAVE_PGP +BUFFY_SIZE -EXACT_ADDRESS +ENABLE_NLS SENDMAIL="/usr/sbin/sendmail" MAILPATH="/var/mail" SHAREDIR="/usr/local/share/mutt" SYSCONFDIR="/usr/local/etc" ISPELL="/usr/bin/ispell" Spot the +HAVE_COLOR? Try doing 'mutt -v' on the machine where colour isn't working for you and I'll bet it's compiled without colour support. Unfortunately your options (assuming I'm right!) are only to compile your own local copy of Mutt or to get the sysadmin to recompile the system one.
