[Talks] Listening to radio and playing mp3 files on Nokia c5

2012-06-17 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Dear Listers,

Has anyone on the list been able to listen to the radio successfully on Nokia
C5? I can locate the radio app and choose a station but I can't see any buttons
for play or stop.

Also, is it possible to play mp3 files on Nokia C5? If I had an audiobook in
mp3 format, could I listen to it on my Nokia C5, and how would I do it? Would
it be possible to bookmark a place where I stopped listening on C5?

Thanks for any assistance,

With best wishes

Andrew

2012-06-17 Thread Eleanor Burke
Andrew I can comment re Audio book. Are you referring to DAISY books? If yes
and if you have Talks Premium then you will have a file called D2GO. Install it
and then using your PC transfer an audio book to your memory card. You will
then go to Menu, Applications or Installs and d2go and open it. You will then
be told there are no books and asked if you want to import one. By saying yes
you will then be put in your memory card and you arrow to the book and select
it and press soft key one, the Options key. Once imported you will find it in
d2go and all chapters will be listed. You can then listen to your book.
If you are talking about am MP3 audio book, then there is a programme, I think
I have it and you could listen that way.
I cannot help re radio as I do not listen to it.

Re: [Talks] Error in installing Talks into Nokia N80.

You might want to try a hard format on this phone and start from scratch.
Try *#7370# then you will need to enter the lock code.

Hi

I had the latest talks 5.302 and Eloquense installed on the Nokia n80.

You need to install talks from scratch.

Make sure that the option, "Software Installation" is set to All.
And the "certification" option is set to, Off.

To do this, Try going to, Menu, Apps Manager, then option key, and then
Setting,
These steps may vary a little but they should get you there.

I don't have the n80 any more, that is why i say try.
These steps should get you up and running.

Hi All,

A friend purchased and old N80. Can anyone pls advice the version of
Talks

and Eloquence suitable for this phone?

I tried to install Eloquence V1123 and got the msg installation failed.
Talks V5 also giving same error.

I then move backward to Eloquence V115 for older phones, similar error.

Time, Date, Certificate, all these have been checked and set properly.

Any advice pls?

Re: [Talks] Listening to radio and playing mp3 files on Nokia c5

2012-06-17 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Thank you all for the comments. I have a DAISY player on my Nokia c5 but the
audiobooks I'm talking about are in mp3 format so I was worried they might be
playable in the DAISY reader nor will I be able to pause listening and return
to it at a later date in the same place.

Thanks again. I am beginning to explore more advanced capabilities of my C5,
hence the questions. By the way, is it possible to convert an mp3
audioformatted book or a book on a CD into DAISY format and then read it using
DAISY player?

All Nokia phones by default have the lock code set to 12345 unless you have
changed it. This is true for ALL Nokia phones regardless of the phone.
Example: a old N-GAGE has the same lock code as a E6.

All Nokia phones by default have the lock code set to 12345 unless you
have changed it. This is true for ALL Nokia phones regardless of the
phone. Example: a old N-GAGE has the same lock code as a E6.

You might want to try a hard format on this phone and start from
scratch.

These steps should get you up and running.

to the best of my knowledge it is then text that one is converting to DAISY.
Never heard of audio MP3 being converted.

Thank you all for the comments. I have a DAISY player on my Nokia c5 but
the audiobooks I'm talking about are in mp3 format so I was worried they
might be playable in the DAISY reader nor will I be able to pause
listening and return to it at a later date in the same place.

Thanks again. I am beginning to explore more advanced capabilities of my
C5, hence the questions. By the way, is it possible to convert an mp3
audioformatted book or a book on a CD into DAISY format and then read it
using DAISY player?

Andrew I can comment re Audio book. Are you referring to DAISY books? If
yes and if you have Talks Premium then you will have a file called D2GO.
Install it and then using your PC transfer an audio book to your memory
card. You will then go to Menu, Applications or Installs and d2go and
open

it. You will then be told there are no books and asked if you want to
import one. By saying yes you will then be put in your memory card and
you

arrow to the book and select it and press soft key one, the Options key.
Once imported you will find it in d2go and all chapters will be listed.
You can then listen to your book.
If you are talking about am MP3 audio book, then there is a programme, I
think I have it and you could listen that way.
I cannot help re radio as I do not listen to it.

It's been a while since I used it, but DAISY2Go had a DAISYfy option
that let you pull MP3 files into DAISY2Go. Obviously, it didn't give you
all of the navigation options you got from a DAISY file built from
scratch, but you could listen to MP3's in DAISY2Go and take advantage of
features like variable rate.

[Talks] Can't move an audio file from inbox on Nokia C5

2012-06-17 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Dear All,

I've successfully transferred a large audio file via bluetooth to my Nokia C5.
The file is in my inbox. I'm not quite sure how I could move it to a folder on
my card. The only option I seem to have is to move the file to my folders
folder under messaging. But then when I try to find via file manager, I cannot
see it at all.

What I also tried was to open it. The file begins to play in Real Player. I
stop it and then get a choice to go back at which point the software asks me
whether I wish to save it. I accept and am placed in the window where I assume
I can choose to save it to phone memory or card. The "save to phone memory" is
highlighted and Talks says phone memory c\ one of two. I press down arrow to
get to memory card but I can't seem to be able to choose it. I did try to save
it to phone memory but the file is too large. Am I missing a trick somewhere? I
also thought I would try to move the location of "my folders" folder in
messaging to memory card but I can't find a way of doing so. Maybe it can't be
done. I thought if I could move that folder to memory card then there would be
enough memory to leave the audio file there but ideally I would like to move it
to a foder I create on the memory card.

By the way, I have the latest version of Talks 5.30.

Many thanks for any suggestions

Andrew I can comment re Audio book. Are you referring to DAISY books? If
yes and if you have Talks Premium then you will have a file called D2GO.
Install it and then using your PC transfer an audio book to your memory
card. You will then go to Menu, Applications or Installs and d2go and open
it. You will then be told there are no books and asked if you want to
import one. By saying yes you will then be put in your memory card and you
arrow to the book and select it and press soft key one, the Options key.
Once imported you will find it in d2go and all chapters will be listed.
You can then listen to your book.
If you are talking about am MP3 audio book, then there is a programme, I
think I have it and you could listen that way.
I cannot help re radio as I do not listen to it.

 Dear Listers,

Has anyone on the list been able to listen to the radio successfully on
Nokia C5? I can locate the radio app and choose a station but I can't see
any buttons for play or stop.

Also, is it possible to play mp3 files on Nokia C5? If I had an audiobook
in mp3 format, could I listen to it on my Nokia C5, and how would I do it?
Would it be possible to bookmark a place where I stopped listening on C5?

 Thanks for any assistance,

 With best wishes

Subject: [Talks] Can't move an audio file from inbox on Nokia C5

Dear All,

I've successfully transferred a large audio file via bluetooth to my Nokia
C5. The file is in my inbox. I'm not quite sure how I could move it to a
folder on my card. The only option I seem to have is to move the file to my
folders folder under messaging. But then when I try to find via file
manager, I cannot see it at all.

What I also tried was to open it. The file begins to play in Real Player. I
stop it and then get a choice to go back at which point the software asks me
whether I wish to save it. I accept and am placed in the window where I
assume I can choose to save it to phone memory or card. The "save to phone
memory" is highlighted and Talks says phone memory c\ one of two. I press
down arrow to get to memory card but I can't seem to be able to choose it. I
did try to save it to phone memory but the file is too large. Am I missing a
trick somewhere? I also thought I would try to move the location of "my
folders" folder in messaging to memory card but I can't find a way of doing
so. Maybe it can't be done. I thought if I could move that folder to memory
card then there would be enough memory to leave the audio file there but
ideally I would like to move it to a foder I create on the memory card.

By the way, I have the latest version of Talks 5.30.

Many thanks for any suggestions

Andrew you are getting complicated here. I have found that if I transfer
via Bluetooth like that it is terrible too *smile*. I think it is now time
to suggest to you that you install y-Browser as this gives you the
opportunity to move files around that you have transferred via bluetooth.
However, I would have transferred myself using USB cable. I will send you
y-browser off list if I can. Not sure if it will go in an e-mail but think
it will. then all you have to do is open my attachment on your phone and
follow the instructions from there *SMILE*.

One major disadvantage of Nokia C5 is no wi-fi. I would not view it as an
upgrade though it is a very nice phone to use and small and compact. Cannot
answer re radio. Talks works just fine on it. Would you consider upgrading to a
Nokia E5 which has wi-fi but qwerty keyboard? It is a lovely phone. I am
writing on mine just now and only have to use left index finger to write. I
write very quickly too. They are around the same price.

2012-06-17 Thread Stephen Giggar
I would also suggest using a card reader! That will work on a Mac or Windows
computer. A card reader is normally faster at copying files to a from a
Micro SD card then what the phone can do it as. This will also work for
installing programs like Talks being you could just then copy them to the
card and put it back in the phone and then using the file manager built into
the phone start the install. Card readers plug into a USB port which both
Mac and Windows computer have.

A USB cable is also very nice to have handy so install things from the
computer. From what I recall, there is a Nokia Suite for Mac computers as
well. But don't hold me to that.

Re: [Talks] Can't move an audio file from inbox on Nokia C5

2012-06-17 Thread Eleanor Burke
I downloaded it but cannot work out how to use it other than it going through a
phone scan and it telling me what problems it has solved. How does one use it
in relation to moving bluetooth files as you suggest?

Re: [Talks] Can't move an audio file from inbox on Nokia C5

2012-06-17 Thread Eleanor Burke
I have now had a better look at this app but continue to be a little puzzled
about its usefulness. It did do fancy things like scan my phone etc but
provided one keeps and maintains the phone then mobile guard is just going to
say things are OK. It did alert me about my back light being on for 15 seconds
and said to reduce this in the interest of power saving mode file search is
good if one does not have shortcut set up to file manager. A good feature is
its accessability with Talks.

Re: [Talks] Error in installing Talks into Nokia N80.

Both Eloquence and Talks cannot be installed. The moment said yes to
installation, then it will say unable to install and exit.

I am not clear here what you are saying. Is the error Talks or Eloquence? Is
Nokia TTS OK? You say old N80 but then you talk of taking phone back to a
shop. Is it a branded phone like Vodafone? I tried installing Talks on to a
Vodafone C5 and tried 2 absolutely bran new phones. When it would not work I
had to let Vodafone install the Standard Talks for me and then I was able to
upgrade to the Premium without any problem. Very strange I agree but it must
have been something to do with the branded phone that Vodafone were able to
tweek.

Hi All,

A friend purchased and old N80. Can anyone pls advice the version of Talks
and Eloquence suitable for this phone?

I tried to install Eloquence V1123 and got the msg installation failed.
Talks V5 also giving same error.

I then move backward to Eloquence V115 for older phones, similar error.

Time, Date, Certificate, all these have been checked and set properly.

Any advice pls?

Thanks,
KITT.

You might want to try a hard format on this phone and start from scratch.
Try *#7370# then you will need to enter the lock code.
