That's a... very interesting description of him, but yes, I do agree with you
there about the lisping. I've noticed that the
dictionary version and the regular versions are exactly the same. I remember
when I used the previous version of Eloquence, it said
gamil "g mail". Now, with both the dictionary and regular versions, it doesn't
do that anymore. SHame, I think.

I happen to like the new 16k version of eloquence with the extra dictionary

he does however sound a bit gay, as he has such strong s's and he sounds
like he might be of the mail persuasion but has that little gay lisp about
him...

[Talks] downgrading from a nokia e7

2011-08-28 Thread stephen faill
hello list.
over the last few days i have been having problems with my e7, and to cut a
long story short, i am returning it to the shop for either repair or
replacement.
to be honest i am actually hoping for a replacement for various reasons.
now, if i do manage to get a replacement phone i was hoping to pick the people
on this list brains as to which newish phone is the best and most accessible
with talks?
it will not matter if the phone is touch screen or regular buttons as long as
all features are accessible.
so, what are people's opinions with the phones that are out there just now?
kind regards.

It's the firmware make sure what ever phone you get don't let them put the
latest firmware on it. I can use the email client, browser internet radio
symbols list as the firmware is from last year. Ask the guy to go to device
manager and have him or her read out the firmware and release date. If it
is from this year then it's no good.

If the place of purchase will give you a letter on their letter head stating
the phone was faulty and needed to be replaced and you can get it to your
talks dealer they should replace it for you.
Secondly while in contact with your talks dealer consider a sym card
licence. So when you put your sym card in a new handset your talks licence
is on that handset. It's well worth the payment to change to a sym licence.

[Talks] Using Talks with an N86 Phone

2011-08-28 Thread Paula and James Muysenberg

Hello,

I purchased a used n86 a few months ago, which included the Talks screen
reader. I downloaded the manual from the website, but have had difficulty
making sense out of it. Part of the problem is that the file has a lot of
ornamentation characters, so when I try to read it on my BrailleNote it's
hard to find the information I need. Does anyone know where I can get more
information on how to use the program, particularly with tasks such as
setting alarms?

Also, does the latest version of Talks work with the N86? I think I'm
one version behind now.

Thanks,
Paula Muysenberg

You can download the ZIP file off of the blind sea web site and that file
has the manual in TXT, Doc and HTML formats. So one of them should work for
you. Also the Talks manual isn't going to tell you how to use the phone. It
is going to tell you how to use the Talks software.

The zip file can be found under the Mobile Screen readers link on the blind
sea web site. www.blindsea.com

Re: [Talks] findings on the new eloquence with e73

2011-08-28 Thread Stephen Giggar

There are two ways you can fix the GMail issue.
1. Add the word gmail to your Talks dictionary and replace it with GMail.
Note how I spelled it.
2. Go in and rename the mailbox from all lower case to the following. Use a
upper case G followed with a upper case M and then a lower case ail. Then
when you read it back, it will be read back correctly. You could also put a
space between the G and M and it will do the same thing.

The latest version will work with your N86. You should be able to download a
Word Talks Manual. If you download from TalkNav or Blindsea websites. The
former has individual files and the latter a zipped file.

Thank you, Eleanor and Stephen. I downloaded the latest version of Talks

blindsea.com, but can't find anything in the manual explaining how to
install the upgrade. Talks was already installed when I received my phone,
and I've had no experience installing software on a cell phone.

Where can I find installation instructions for the updated version?
