[Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken?
Hi folks, has anyone tried the new version of the Talks software with OVI Maps? It appears to be broken on my Nokia C5, latest firmware with the latest version of Talks released this week but running the previous version of Eloquence. Could someone try it on your phone and confirm whether it's working for you or not if you get a few minutes please? I haven't trawled through it very far, but the route overview no longer reads for me, so I haven't actually been out with it to find out if the keys that give other info about what's going on work or not... My Internet on the phone now works again, but one step forward, one back! I have a C 5 but it is currently in London. Eloquence on it even has a bit of hiss and that is the old Eloquence. Can you tell me is there hiss now on your C 5? -original message- Subject: [Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken? Re: [Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken?
If you could tell us what version of maps it is? Also what firmware version? This helps for the firmware that you have may be the latest only for that model phone and it would help others with that model of phone to know what firmware version your talking about. The same goes with maps. If it is v3.06 then I would not be surprised to see that it is broken. - Original Message - From: "Barry G" To: "Talks Mailing List" Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 5:16 AM Subject: [Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken? in my case, the latest built of talks with the semi latest firmware, does not speach "browse catagory" option, when in the search option in walk/drive mode. You forgot. 1. What phone. 2. What firmware you have on the phone. 3. What version of OVI Maps. Signed: Stephen Giggar Skype: dr-phone. Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works. [Talks] e7 Firmware and Eloquence
Can someone tell me what is the latest firmware for e7 and if the August 11 release of Talks works with it. Including camera and e-mail. I have found that the latest release of Eloquence 11 August has a slight hiss on e7 but I would only say about a 3 per cent hiss. ___ Talks mailing list Talks@talksusers.com http://lists.talksusers.com/mailman/listinfo/talks Hosting of this list provided courtesy of: eHosting Limited: http://www.ehosting.com/ and Talknav Inc. http://www.talknav.net/

Go in to installs or applications and arrow to Eloquence. Once on it press Options and arrow to About and Select. I do not know and asked this question on list today. Actually I think there must have been a reason for bringing out a new Eloquence otherwise what was the point. I must go and read the release notes and maybe you might do same. Eleanor you just answered your own question. Reading the release notes should be the first thing you do when a new version of anything is released. Exactly, release notes looks promising, but the sad thing is developers did not improve poor functions of Talks with Ovi Maps. Mobile Speak is far ahead regarding this matter, I am kind of jealous when I read it's features. On 8/14/11, Brad Keller wrote: > Eleanor you just answered your own question. [Talks] talks 5.21 and scratchy voice
Having heard people complain about the new eloquence being scratchy, I decided to install it on my positively ancient n82, and I completely agree. Fortunately I use UK English, so don't have to put up with it. The sooner dealers start telling Nuance about this, the better. The files on the Talk Nav site are not in zip file format. Sounds like you got the file from the blind sea site. In that case the file is not a file but a folder. Unzip that then go into that folder and you will find all the talks files: the talks file, all 3 eloquence files, the vocalizer files, the daisy file, the talks manual, and the talks release notes. I think that is all of them. - Original Message - From: "Maurice Press" To: "'Talks Mailing List'" Sent: Friday, August 12, 2011 9:58 AM Subject: [Talks] New Release of Talks. Hi All. Re: [Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken?
Hi, i do not s60v3 ovi maps but, the fifth edition ovi maps is hard to use with talks. I think there are problems on screen icons. because talks sees the focused items as buttons sometimes. for example, in turkish ovi maps, there are a few add-ons like yemek sepeti and emlakjet, talks says key1 yemek sepeti key2 more. but this yemek sepeti is not a button, it is a focused item like my position, search, walk, drive etc. www.cepdenizi.net - Original Message - From: "Peter Heart" To: "Talks Mailing List" Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 6:48 PM Subject: Re: [Talks] New version of Talks & OVI Maps - broken? You can try getting at the info through a PC and then sending it to yourself in a text message or an email. If you're talking about wanting to get at something in a text message or an email then you can always forward or reply to the message and then scroll down to get at what you want. Since you'll now be editing the information, you can do a cut and paste. Of course, with web pages, you can always try to write things down in braille or on your PC and then type it back in where you need it. I know this is tough though, especially when you can't move character by character. Sorry I wasn't more help! [Talks] decided to go back
Well I decided to go back to the previous version of talks and eloquence. The latest version really had little effect on my e6 which was quite disappointing. I would have thought Nuance would have tried harder to work with symbian Anna. It did a couple of minor things, but I already had figured out work arounds for those and some how it just didn't seem as stable. So I uninstalled 5213 and put the previous Talks back on the phone. And I'm not going to upgrade any of my other nokia phones. I really just doesn't seem like there's much reason to. They work fine now so I'm not going to bother. I hope when and if Nuance releases another update they take care to make it a really good one. Re: [Talks] decided to go back
There are at least a couple of dealers on the list so maybe they can get comments back to Nuance. It is sort of a helpless feeling though because I've sent a number of messages to Monty Lillburn who is working on Talks at Nuance and he's never even acknowledged getting my messages. So I don't know if they even read messages sent to them from users of the product. Re: [Talks] decided to go back
I have been a user of Talks for over 3 years and must be on this list for 3 years. At no other time of release of Talks upgrade has there been so much disappointment and yet no response from a Talks dealer even. Neil who owns and moderates the list has not even given any words of support by way of assuring us that our disappointment has been reported back to Nuance. On one occassion following a Talks upgrade there was a problem with a release, I cannot recall the issue then but what I do recall is that within 24 hours there was a new file available for us to download. Again I would appeal to those who have influence with Nuance to at least put out some words to us even just to say that our comments have been noted. Otherwise I fear a number of Talks users will move to another platform. This would be very disappointing. As a Talks user I would be very disappointed to have to stop using this screen reader but if opponents provide better products then we will have no option other than to move elsewhere. -original message- Subject: Re: [Talks] decided to go back From: Denise Thompson Date: 15/08/2011 5:31 am There are at least a couple of dealers on the list so maybe they can get comments back to Nuance. Re: [Talks] decided to go back
in my own guessing, no offence, the fix will only come next february or march. i for one are trying another platform now and might make a switch if no improvement in talks in the near future. android looks promising and so far can do whatever symbian can give me. sorry, off topic. -- Allan (WKF) - Original Message - From: "Eleanor Burke" To: "Talks Mailing List" Sent: Monday, August 15, 2011 13:09 Subject: Re: [Talks] decided to go back I have been a user of Talks for over 3 years and must be on this list for 3 years. Re: [Talks] decided to go back
I have a C5-00, FW 61 with Talks, the shif chif sound is there for both eloquence, UK and US. As for my N79, I don't even bother to install new Eloquence, only latest Talks and working well so far. All the best. - Original Message - From: "Eleanor Burke" To: "Talks Mailing List" Sent: Monday, August 15, 2011 1:09 PM Subject: Re: [Talks] decided to go back I have been a user of Talks for over 3 years and must be on this list for 3 years.
