[Talks] talks pronouncing differently

2011-03-23 Thread bhavesh
Hi friends,
i am using talks premium5.20.3.
recently i've made some changes in talks's default dictionary, cause it was not
announcing days properly. for that i did the following:
i went to talks and zooms premium>user dictionary>add new.
i typed We, and replaced it with Wednesday.
i applied it to global application, and, and whole words only yes.
now , wherever it finds We, it reads it as "Wednesday".
i actually want this pronounciations to be applied to calendar, only, since it
does not read days properly there. it reads We for Wednesday.
please help me in this matter, as i feel frustrated wehn it reads like this
everywhere.

With best regards,
bhavesh.

first, remove the "we" entry that you made previously.
second, launch the calendar app.
third, within the calendar app, press talks and longkey1 for the talks setting.
fourth, recreate the "we" entry and now dont use global, select calendar.

HTH.

One other thing.

Did both of you install the Eloquence that came with the 5.20.3 release of
Talks? Yes I know the version number didn't change between the 5.01.x
release of Talks but the date on the file is different that is why I asked
if you installed the Eloquence-ENU* version that came with 5.20.3 of
Talks.

Also what firmware do you have on your N86 and C5 that are having issues?
This is done from the standby screen and doing a *##.

Hi Stephen,
i'm getting the same problem. It mainly happens to me whilst in email or
on the web. Next time it happens i'll try your suggestion to see whether
this fixes the problem. I'm using the version of Eloquence which came
with

5.2.3. I'm using an N86.

hmmm

Well when you start the other screen reader! That automatically disables
Talks first of all.

Next! What TTS are you using?
What version is the TTS that you are using?

Did you try doing a Talks followed by a long press of the Clear key to
either unload the current TTS or to bring up the TTS list if you have
more

then one installed. Then you can either do a Talks followed by a press of
clear to reload the current TTS or you can arrow to another TTS and press
select if more then one is installed.

Personally myself, I would try another TTS and see if the problem
continues.
Sound like the tts that you are using is crashing.

Since I have no desire to clean PC Suite off my computer, I was hoping
someone has run it recently and might have some ideas as to why she's

Hi!
I think, that this is not the firmware' problem, rather, it is talks problem.
Cause if it was a phone problem, then the phone would have restarted, etc.
Other thing, is that not only me, some other friends on this mailing list r

Re: [Talks] Talks suddenly hangs while reading anything

2011-03-23 Thread Stephen Giggar
In most cases when Talks stops talking, it is still running. If you 1. Switch
to another tts speech will come back. Or 2. Unload the tts and reload the tts,
again speech comes back.

I've seen this with all version of Talks. One of the above ways in most cases
will get the phone talking again. Instructions were sent out on what to do
earlyer this week on both of the above. As far as i know no one has tried them
to see if they work in there case.

Hi!
to answer your question, when my talks crashes, i run mobilespeak, and then
again load talks using MS. in that case, it works.

i'm facing a strange problem in my nokia c5-00. Whenever i start
reading
anything using say all command talks+down arrow, it hangs
automatically.

This did not occur in 5.1 version of talks. Then i have to again enable

Is anybody facing the same problem in c5, or any other phones?
I've turned off the keypad tones. Please reply, if u have any

hi!
Did updating the firmware affect the overall audio quality/volume of ur phone?
Cause i updated my friends c5's firmware, and unfortunately her phone's audio

So, if ur phone's firmware is nice, then i'll tell her to update it.
Please reply.

Well in my humble view, that should not be the solution. There is a problem.
Could we get some help please? Its not the phone, its not the firmware. What
it is? I'd give anything to know! I know I am fed up! The impression I'm
getting in some responses, is that if one can't duplicate the issue, then it
does not exist. Wrong posture.

Hi!
to answer your question, when my talks crashes, i run mobilespeak, and then
again load talks using MS. in that case, it works.

I've seen this with all version of Talks. One of the above ways in most
cases will get the phone talking again. Instructions were sent out on what
to do earlyer this week on both of the above. As far as i know no one has
tried them to see if they work in there case.

Hi!

I think, that this is not the firmware' problem, rather, it is talks
problem. Cause if it was a phone problem, then the phone would have
restarted, etc. Other thing, is that not only me, some other friends on this
mailing list r also facing the same issue, dispite of having a different
phone. It did not occur with talks5.1

can u mention what is ur firmware's release date, cause as per what i know,
last it was released was on july2010.

Then you can either do a Talks followed by a press
of
clear to reload the current TTS or you can arrow to another TTS and
press

select if more then one is installed.

Personally myself, I would try another TTS and

Re: [Talks] Talks suddenly hangs while reading anything

2011-03-23 Thread Stephen Giggar

anthony

There is nothing stopping you from putting on other Eloquence TTS stuff like
UK (ENG) as a example! Then you will have both ENU and ENG. This give you
two TTS drivers. If you know other languages you can install them as well.
So it has nothing to do with me having more then one voice beings you can
install what you like for the license that you have. If you have Eloquence!
Then you can install all the Eloquences if you like one after another. Then
they will show up in the Speech selection.

If a problem isn't recreatable it for the most part unfixable! You have to
be able to recreate a problem in most cases to find out what is going on
before it can be fixed.

Like I said, wants in a while Eloquence will stop talking for me! But most
of the time, I can switch to another TTS with the Talks long Clear and then
arrowing up 1 time to UK Eloquence and pressing Select to get speech back.
Then I can redo the command and then arrow back to US Eloquence and keep
reading. But this means you have to have both UK and US English Eloquence
TTS installed before this will work. If you do not ahve any other TTS but US
Eloquence installed! Then when you do a Talks long Clear wait 3 seconds and
then do a Talks clear to reload the US Eloquence will also work. Note in
this case there are two command being issues. The first on is a long press
of the clear and the 2nd one is a short press of it. Both require the Talks
key to be pressed first.

Hardware eventually fails, software eventually works.
No amount of bandwidth can fix poor design.
