[Talks] Problem after updating my E71.

2010-10-15 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
I wonder if any list member can shed any light on the following issue.

I have just updated my E71 to firmware 501.21.001.

I am using Talks 5.01.1. All works fine except for one thing. When a call
is received pressing Soft Key 2 silences the ringtone but the caller's name
or number is not read out. Talks and up arrow does not read it either.
Furthermore Caller ID does not work either. The ringtone is set to ringing.
All Talks and phone settings are as they were before the update. I did not
do a restore from memory after the update just copied contacts back to phone
memory as that was all I wanted to keep.

I have tried all tts engines but that makes no difference.

The only thing I can think of is that as the phone rings, the I can see the
name using the Object Viewer. Perhaps this can be given an appropriate role
to be read with Talks Soft Key 2?

As any list member any suggestions?

Malcolm

2010-10-15 Thread Stephen Giggar
Well Talks SoftKey2 is for the signal, battery, and other status
information. If that is what you are pressing, then I can see what it isn't
reading what you expect.

If you can see this information in the object viewer! Then you can set a
role yourself maybe so that it will read it. Set the role to Focus or
subtitle for now. Lets us know how you get on.

Quite right Soft Key 2 was what I meant, it's been a long day. Training it as
focus reads it out as expected. Not sure where the actual focus was. Just goes
to show how flexible Talks is. Playing around really does pay off.

Quite right Soft Key 2 was what I meant, it's been a long day. Training it
as focus reads it out as expected. Not sure where the actual focus was.
Just goes to show how flexible Talks is. Playing around really does pay
off.

Well Talks SoftKey2 is for the signal, battery, and other status
information. If that is what you are pressing, then I can see what it
isn't

reading what you expect.

If you can see this information in the object viewer! Then you can set a
role yourself maybe so that it will read it. Set the role to Focus or
subtitle for now. Lets us know how you get on.

I wonder if any list member can shed any light on the following issue.

I have just updated my E71 to firmware 501.21.001.

I am using Talks 5.01.1. All works fine except for one thing. When a
call
is received pressing Soft Key 2 silences the ringtone but the caller's
name
or number is not read out. Talks and up arrow does not read it either.
Furthermore Caller ID does not work either. The ringtone is set to
ringing.
All Talks and phone settings are as they were before the update. I did
not
do a restore from memory after the update just copied contacts back to
phone
memory as that was all I wanted to keep.

I have tried all tts engines but that makes no difference.

The only thing I can think of is that as the phone rings, the I can see
the
name using the Object Viewer. Perhaps this can be given an appropriate
role
to be read with Talks Soft Key 2?

As any list member any suggestions?

Malcolm

Re: [Talks] Memory Card for N86

2010-10-15 Thread Edward
Hello Mathew,

The Nokia N86 takes a Micro SD card. In order to insert the memory card,
the entire back of the phone has to come off. The slot for the Micro SD
card is on the same side of the phone as the spring loaded lock/unlock
lever. The actual slot is near the camera lense, but on the side as I
mentioned.

[Talks] Question about a problem with Nokia X6 and speech through a call.

2010-10-15 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein
Hi llist.

I have a Nokia X6 phone, with Talks 5.01.1 installed, and i have set the option
on the Advanced tab to speak always, even if there is a call in progress.
The reason is, that sometimes when calling official department's, there has to
be chosen some choice's by pressing a number on the phone.

My problem is, that talks is'nt aloved to speak through the external speaker
while a call is in progress, because that the phone reserves this for use if
the user want's to talk by hand-free.

I am therefore not able to hear what ii am dooing on the touch screen, even to
find the button to get the numerical keypad on the screen, whether to press the
desired chois to get to the wanted department.

Is there anything i can do, to get this work, or do i need to wait for an
update of talks, that solve's this problem?

Regards, Hans Pauli.

2010-10-15 Thread Stephen Giggar
Yes use a headset. I think the way the phone is designed, you will never get
the internal and external speaker going at the same time. Then on top of that,
how would you determine when Talks should use the external speaker and when it
shouldn't when on a call? Another thing you could do is switch your phone to
external speaker so that you hear both the phone call and Talks throu it. Those
are the only two options i can come up with. Oh by the way, the IPhone has the
same issues. Just the nature of touch screen phones.
