Re: [RE-wrenches] Measuring an RV for load

2024-11-20 Thread Ray Walters via RE-wrenches
I'd get the 120 v/ 15 A  adapter, your customer probably already has
one, and then you can plug the Killowatt into that. Otherwise, I've made
up cables with the outer jacket removed, so I can put a clamp meter on
the individual hots.   A third option would be to wire an old utility
electric meter with the 240/ 50A plugs on either end.

Just to further clarify, the Sol-Ark would be replacing the Outback stack and

[RE-wrenches] Sol-Ark 12 integration

2024-11-20 Thread solareagle--- via RE-wrenches
I have a Sol-Ark 12, old stock, that I’m thinking of installing at my
residence, I have 14kW grid tie with enphase micro’s but want to add some
Homegrid batteries for a backup option. I know it’s redundant to have the
micros and the Sol-Ark but I also have a separate system with nearly 4kW
off-grid, charging batteries. The off-grid part of the system is using an
Outback 3648 dual inverter stack with a 12 year old bank of 4kS25 Rolls (48v)
batteries. The Homegrid batteries would replace the Rolls so there would only
be lithium batteries in the mix.

I’m wondering if I can integrate all these components with the Sol-Ark
successfully or am I setting myself up for some severe headaches. Are there
some legacy issues with the Sol-Ark 12 that might be a problem? Any suggestions
or Wrench experience with similar systems much appreciated.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Measuring an RV for load

2024-11-20 Thread Chris Sparadeo via RE-wrenches
I’ve been drooling over the Fluke 1732 Power Measurement Logger for the
past few year but can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money. Have any
wrenchers used it?

Jay, it looks like there is a product called the Power Watchdog PWD50EPO
that is specifically designed for RVs and acts as a surge protector. The
device has Bluetooth capability and also monitors power characteristics
(volts, amps, kW, kWh). It sounds like this is what you are looking for.
Around $300

Kindly,

Chris

Re: [RE-wrenches] Sol-Ark 12 integration

2024-11-20 Thread Maverick Brown via RE-wrenches
Ron

What is the primary goal?

To get more power on your loads?

To get more grid export?

I have installed a bunch of outback products and you can’t beat the surge
capacity and longevity. As you well know.

Solark has an excellent grid zero feature with CTs. Outback and Solark both
will work with the HomeGrid batteries.

Solark will be closed loop and outback will be just fine open loop.

Do you have a generator in the mix?

Thank you,
