Converting Outlook PST files...
Hi, Just had to mention this. Have just found a way of converting Outlook pst files so they can then be imported into various Linux mail clients. It's libpst and can be found at: http://freshmeat.net/projects/libpst/?topic_id=31 Apologies if anyone thinks this off topic, but i remember seeing many requests as to whether Outlook pst files can be imported and the answer given was usually no they can't. Well I've been able to import my old pst file into Sylpheed okay. A bit long winded in that you have to import each folder on it'd own. There may be a way to do a mass import, but I've not discovered it yet. Only problem is that it does not successfully deal with all attachments. But then it does point that out. Hope this helps someone. Neil. -- Psyche-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list

OK, as you can check at the X-Mailer Header, this is still Evolution 1.0.8. I made my home work, updating the rpm's via RH Network. The version now seems to be the same found at the install CD. I'll do the upgrade suggested today and give to the list some feedback concerning the problem I found. Re: System slow down
My first bet is RAM card. Can you open the CPU and just unplug one at time (how many?) the ram cards until you get off the delay? Even with 32MB of RAM you can just boot the system at runlevel 3. I had sometimes this situation also, maybe a card not properly pluged, or a oxydated one. In this case we use to clean the card with a rubber. problem with modem, cdrom, sonykey
Currently, I have installed RH8.0 (Kernel 2.18.14, i686) on my sony GRX520 but still have some problems. I am greatly appreciated if you can help me figure out how to fix it. 1 Modem. I have installed the soft driver for the modem and configured it from the graphical interface program in RH. But when I try to dial, it says cannot resolve such an address. 2 My sonykeyd doesn’t. The jogdial works when I manually run sonypid but it has no response if I exit sonypid. 3 There is no /dev/cdrom in my /dev directory. So I manually added it but when I mounted cdrom, it says there is no such a block device. When the system boots up, it detects the cdrom to be hdc, and is a scsi device. But when I mount use /dev/sr, /dev/hdc, it doesn’t work. 4 I tried to install rpm to tune the CPU speed but when it returned that it should be run by other user even I have set everything to root and ran it as the root. 5 Acpi patch seems cannot be installed to the system even the kernel version stuff is the same as my system. Does it no need to patch such a patch in my version of RH?

RE: nameserver host finding
Hi, When you configure your network via NETWORK in the redhat menu, you have a checkbox "Automatically obtain DNS information from provider". I think this is what you need. It works for me. If uncheck, it will normally take the DNS on the DNS tab entry. Cheers, Philippe On Wed, 2003-03-05 at 08:59, Mirabella, Mathew J wrote: > thanks. yes someone did tell me about that one. Hi and thanks for that... but.. i am not using X (gnome or kde) so do not use these gui interfaces. i have started using wvdial in the console environment. You've used some incorrect terminology, but if I understand correctly, you just want to combine all the data from your root (/) and home (/home) partitions on to the root partition. To do this all you need to do is copy the files over, preserving permissions. The commands to run would look something like: # init 1 # cd / # mkdir /home.new # cp -rp /home /home.new # umount /home # rmdir /home # mv /home.new /home You'll then want to update your file system table (/etc/fstab) to no longer mount /dev/hda6 on /home, clear the data off /dev/hda6, and bring the system back to a multiuser runlevel (such as 3), again using init. You can also do the copying using an archival utility such as tar, but I don't think that's any better than using cp as shown above. How can I find out what else I need? If the RedHat configuration works for compiling kernels, then just use that for your sources. In your kernel source directory, copy configs/kernel-.config to .config and then compile the kernel as normal. eg, in /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-24.8.0/ cp configs/kernel-2.4.18-i386.config ./.config make xconfig Then you can make your changes as you like (but don't touch the sound options!) If you want to use one of your config files from an older kernel, replace make xconfig with make oldconfig. The manual page for init(1) would answer this question. ;-) It is used to bring the system down to single user mode. In simple cases, this is the best way to ensure that files on the /home partition are not being used so you can easily unmount /home. On Linux 2.4 and higher, there are other ways of remounting partitions without bringing the system down or unmounting the partition directly, but the way I described should hopefully be the best and easiest for you. -- Michael Wardle Adacel Technologies -- Psyche-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/psyche-list
